"FAA Bans GA Ride Sharing Companies"

I think people are going to do what they want to do regardless of the interpretation. That's the nature of Part 91 pilots that I have observed in my years in aviation. There are pilots who are just ignorant or are blatant in their disregard to regulations. Are these the pilots we want to be out...

"FAA Bans GA Ride Sharing Companies"

I receive daily news alerts from Google on airplane crashes. You can configure this too. Then you'll see just how many GA airplanes go down nearly everyday...and often for stupid reasons too.

"FAA Bans GA Ride Sharing Companies"

That settles that... http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/FAA-Bans-GA-Ride-Sharing-Companies222609-1.html I'm sure this will **** off a bunch of people. But...I doubt it'll stop anyone from doing illegal cost sharing.

    Foreflight True Airspeed Value?

You can find TAS in the POH. Not sure why this is even a discussion.

    Sectional Question

eetrojan, that's what I was looking for. Thank you. Steven P McNicoll, I do agree with you that there would be little point to keep that extension as echo when the tower closes. I just needed to find the source to support that.

    Sectional Question

Where did you get this fact from? I just checked the A/FD and the Aero Chart User's Guide as well as the AIM and there is no guidance that states when the Delta tower closes, the Echo goes to Golf. The AIM provides this: e. Types of Class E Airspace: 1. Surface area designated for an airport...

do you ever feel like the forces are working against you?

Use the down time to study the knowledge material, practice chair flying, and work on that written exam. I don't buy the "weather sucks so I can't make progress" line. There is enough material there to keep you reading 24/7 for the next year.

    Commercial Pilot question...

magichat101, you're not too late to the game...however... You need to consider your decision to become an airline pilot carefully. Since you mentioned money as being an issue, my question to you is, do you have sufficient funds to support your training needs through your flight instructor...

Requestion IMC flight instruction as a basic PPL student

I've taken my primary students into actual IMC as part of their 3 hour requirement. It gives them a better sense of what it's really like to enter IMC visually. But they also need to be able to learn the mechanics of flight solely by reference to flight instruments and unusual attitude...

Printing weather charts for Private Pilot checkride

I don't think an examiner will fail a candidate for bringing charts printed from NWS. I just think if you can do one stop shop of getting an official briefing and get your charts (www.duat.com) for example, all the better. Either way, my point is that using NWS or ADDS does not constitute an...

Printing weather charts for Private Pilot checkride

What's there to read into? If you don't want to call FSS, that's your business. I'm quite sure my FSDO is okay with FSS/DUAT/DUATS as a primary weather source. Maybe you should call yours to confirm this as well...to strengthen your own knowledge. :mad2: My information and recommendations to...

Printing weather charts for Private Pilot checkride

Did you miss the part where I mentioned to the OP that he should use DUAT (www.duat.com) and print out the weather graphics in an earlier post?

Printing weather charts for Private Pilot checkride

Straight out of the latest AIM edition: 7-1-2. FAA Weather Services b. The primary source of preflight weather briefings is an individual briefing obtained from a briefer at the FSS. These briefings, which are tailored to your specific flight, are available 24 hours a day through the use of...

Printing weather charts for Private Pilot checkride

jconway2002, I would caution you with the use of those links. NOAA and the AWC is NOT considered as a primary weather source. It is considered as supplementary weather products. Thus, an examiner might have issue with you using "unofficial" weather products. One of the links provided has...

Printing weather charts for Private Pilot checkride

You can print charts from www.duat.com (not the same as www.duats.com). You'll need to register if you haven't already. I suggest you use www.duat.com. Once you log in, on the left side menu, select "Route Briefing". Complete the form and you'll get a printable weather briefing. On the same...

    finding a FAA Examiner reviews

The OP said: "When the time came for the checkride i was not expecting nor studied for most of the questions asked by the FAA examiner." Now I find that extremely difficult to believe that any student who have studied hard could find an examiner asking most of his questions that were...

    finding a FAA Examiner reviews

The OP was asking for what to expect of examiners, IOW, their play book. The inquiry wasn't about whether an examiner has a high fail rate or not. I can understand not wanting to go with an examiner who has a reputation for high failures. But to ask for an examiner's play book, that's an...
