And where would one find this kind of practical training? Paying a CFI you mean?

    FOI +AGI

I've been looking into also getting my AGI this summer, so I figured I'd add in some questions here: 1. Does preparing for the test actually prepare you for the job? In a perfect world I'd read through the Flight Instructors Handbook, Airplane Flying Handbook, Aviation Weather, Aviation...

    PIC Logging Situation Question

But doesn't that conflict with FAR 61.57(a)(2)? In this scenario, pilot B is NOT considered a passenger?

    PIC Logging Situation Question

Here's my next question then. Let's say pilot A is not current (per recency requirements) and pilot B is. Pilot A and B go flying, during which BOTH pilots perform takeoffs and landings, only at different times. Does this mean that pilot A could now be considered current? Despite the fact...

    PIC Logging Situation Question

That's what always confused me about "sole manipulator of controls". If the sole manipulator changes throughout the flight, shouldn't both pilots be allowed to log the time during which they are the sole manipulator?

    PIC Logging Situation Question

Let's say Pilot A goes on a cross country with pilot B. Pilot A is not current (has not made 3 takeoffs/landings within 90 days) but does have a PPL. Pilot B also has a PPL. Pilot B performs takeoff and landing, and pilot A flies for entire enroute portion. Is pilot A authorized to log PIC...

    Flying Cars

I can't see anything wrong with this. Absolutely nothing. EDIT: Oh yeah, maybe the fact that AeroMobil has never made an airplane before, nor an automobile, nor seems to have any clue in regards to safety or realism.

    Remote Control Towers in USA

You do know that, almost from outset of training, tower controllers go through an entirely different training course than ARTCC/TRACON controllers? Using that as an argument here is like saying flying IFR is the same as VFR. We're talking about two entirely different modes of control.

    Remote Control Towers in USA

The navy uses similar technology on carriers. They also have infrared cameras for night vision/low vis. No problem having a camera as a backup in the tower. Then it's excellent. But as a replacement...I think we can use technology to solve bigger problems. Personally I think Saab should...

    Remote Control Towers in USA

Right. So the controller that is already making mistakes due to overload should be helped by giving him more places to control. Excellent solution.

Every flight is a learning experience

Easy tip for staying coordinated during stalls is just never move the ailerons. I used to have trouble with this too until my instructor literally said, "Don't you touch those ailerons again." and it fixed my stalls considerably. Using the rudder can keep the nose straight if you focus on...

    Remote Control Towers in USA

You know what would be fun? Cover the cameras with duct tape and hijack an airplane. Now nobody knows where you are! If you're lucky we could even have robots operating fuel trucks and FBOs, so there's almost no chance of anybody seeing you.

    To fly professional or not?

I'll ask you the same thing somebody asked me a few years ago. If you could be anything, without thinking about it, what would you be? Without hesitation, I said airline pilot. I'm sure if you're passionate about flying you will have similar thoughts. Keep in mind flying as a career...

    Remote Control Towers in USA

Let's talk about the implications of this. Boy is it wonderful how we continue to fix problems that don't exist with technology. My generation seems to be all about this and there seems to be nobody speaking up going, "Do we REALLY need this??" "The traffic demand at certain aerodromes might...

What does it take to become a ATP pilot?

A lot of people talking about aviation degrees and flight training like college students have all the money in the world. If mommy/daddy is paying then you can skip this. But if you're going for this and money is a concern, consider the following (it is also what I'm currently doing). 1. Find...
