10 years ago, Lake Pocotopaug, CT, picture taken from in front of the restaurant where we had lunch. My friends all flew in; I didn't bring my plane as I didn't like the idea of hand propping it on the ice, besides, it was much too cold for an open cockpit!

McGuire, some 10-odd years ago. It's always fun to observe people's reaction when they notice #5's number is painted upside down.

Long before I was a pro, I bought a 2.1MP Sony camera and took a lot of photos of planes! I love airplanes and love this thread! Keep sharing.

A friend of mine has a hangar full of war-birds. I had a nice little ride in the P51.

Flying with the son ferrying our Piet from Oshkosh.56AFBE34-14C4-4114-B61D-C73734FD592F.jpeg0D2BE68B-8451-4A3E-B578-CE91616581F0.jpeg

Ferrying a different Piet. Sunrise open cockpit it quite amazing.

In keeping with the thread, this is a post-aircraft picture that I took. It's probably fairly obvious what happened. I guess the sole upside was that nobody was hurt. Pretty much everyone lost except the renter that did the gear up landing. It was insured, but not for full value. We took it in the shorts, the flight school it was on leaseback with took it in the shorts, nobody was made whole. With a new prop and engine running about $50K, plus probably $10K of underskin repairs, it was an insurance total. It's probably sitting in a salvage yard someplace right now.

A day at our local aviation museum with my son and grandsons.
