Did my SODA ride along with my checkride. The FAA person just sat in back and watched me do my checkride. I have been blind in my right eye since the early 80's. It's a nonevent for the FAA once the SODA is done.

I love living at my private airport. Yes, it's a lot of work to keep the place mowed and maintained, but it's worth it.

Might I recommend a Starduster Too. They're one of the prettiest airplanes ever designed. You can go flying around the patch, turn 'n burn in gentleman aerobatics and fly cross country with equal ease. I wish that I'd never sold mine. For the most part, they have fairly gentle tendencies...

Out of control? You're not there yet. In 2001, I started flying ultralights. One day, I stopped in the local airport fbo and got talked into flight lessons by a young CFI who taught there. I bought my Comanche as a 10 hour student pilot and finished in that plane. Flash forward 12...

I will probably move the Middle Finger fly-in to mid-September instead of Labor Day weekend. Hope to see more people then!

There's a reason for that, Mike. If you make a bad putt on that hole, you can walk up to the pistol range, pin your putter onto the target area and take out your aggression by filling it full of holes... :D

Come on out to the Rockin' M Airport (formerly Taylor Airport) in Quinlan, Texas for our first fly-in of the year. This year's dates are June 20th thru 23rd. We're planning on having a grand ole time. There will be karaoke at night, late night movies and a whole lotta fun. Plan on camping...

I bought my Comanche as a 10 hour student pilot and did the rest of my training in it. Insurance on it (in 2002) was $3500 a year. I now have over 3000 hours in that airplane. Insurance is $1800 per year. The Comanche is a good airplane to buy. Parts are starting to become scarce, but...
