    Independent CFI’s in Nashville

What airport and what airplane? I normally instruct in my students own planes, but I do have access to rentals for students at JWN.

On another group, someone posted that it was a loss of pressurization at 25,000‘. Unconfirmed.

    Sales Tax Question

Not the same thing… this link is for sales tax charged at a point of sale on a retail purchase, not sales tax due on an airplane. We aren’t talking about potato chips and candy bars…. Airplanes have special rules in most states. If an airplane sale is consummated in a state that doesn’t...

    Sales Tax Question

Sorry, but you're incorrect. You pay "sales tax" in the state where you complete the purchase (unless the state has a fly-away exemption or zero sales tax). You pay "use tax" in the state where you domicile the airplane. You may get credit towards the use tax in your home state if you already...

    Sales Tax Question

If you're using an escrow company, they do not release the funds to the seller until the plane is on the ground in MA and you tell them that it is ok to release. The "proof" is a paper trail with time stamps. You have flightaware tracking of the airplane, personal logbooks for the flights...

    Sales Tax Question

Also... in your case, since you say your home state doesn't charge sales or use tax... you can save a step, skip the fly away state. Just have the ferry pilot fly the plane to your home state and do the closing there. You could even ask the owner to fly it, and then put him on a commercial...

    Sales Tax Question

I would not take that risk... it takes very little time and effort to do the closing in a fly-away state. Some states are VERY aggressive at coming after airplane owners for sales and use taxes. Do it the right way and save yourself the heartache of an audit and a tax bill later.

    Sales Tax Question

It is easy and reasonably straightforward, I have done this multiple times as a ferry pilot. You hire a ferry pilot to fly the plane to your desired closing state. When the plane is on the ground, you send the wire or release escrow to complete the purchase. Buy gas in your flyaway state to...

New Gopro Hero 12 Bluetooth connection to G1000

There is a discussion about this on the Cirrus forums too. It may depend on your audio panel… on the GMA 350c you need to go into “Bluetooth recording mode”. Check the manual on Garmin‘s website for instructions for your particular audio panel.

    Hiring a Ferry Pilot

This is true. Your ferry pilot will not have any insurance to cover the airplane, it is prohibitively expensive or impossible to get. The owners insurance will cover the airplane, so please make sure that you have coverage for this type of operation. For the ferry pilot, the OPW is not enough…...

    Hiring a Ferry Pilot

I am a ferry pilot. The finances are fairly simple… owner pays me a daily rate, plus all expenses for the trip (ground transport, hotels, airline to and from start and end, etc…). I require that I am added as a named insured to the owners insurance policy. Typically that is zero cost to the...

How and where to register my plane? IL or TN?

Sorry for the rudimentary nature of this post, but I am a first time airplane buyer looking for guidance. I am buying an airplane next month. The airplane is currently located in Illinois and titled in an LLC. I am a Tennessee resident, but I also have a house in Illinois. The plane will...

    U.S. experimental insurance to Greenland

You may certainly have more luck with insurance as a first timer flying with a group. I’ve flown with Sam and I have a few transatlantics… I was planning to fly the Greenland Air Trophy as a CFI accompanying a pilot couple of years ago, but the trip was cancelled by Covid. However, the pilot...
