Your auto pilot was likely slaved to your heading bug and corse is set to a different bug so be sure you have both set up to a separate knob control so you remember to set them both separately. They both will display below the HSI one on the left the other on the right side
My first aircraft was a Tri Pacer and I learned more about flying from that aircraft than I have from any humans or other aircraft. I believe it’s a great plane to train in and you will remember the skills you learn from it for ever.
Have you tried Ramona Avionics they re did my complete panel with a two Dynon displays for a bit more. His cost was more reasonable than others in our area.
