I've seen several occasions flying within the SAN's mode C ring where I've spotted airplanes visually that are not showing up on my tablet. ADS-B in is only so good.

Yep, 100% Malibu pilot. However, a traffic call would've been helpful. At KSEE, controllers always call out traffic in the parallel. Especially base and final.

You can see the anguish from the first guy that got out. He wasn't just upset about the crash, he lost a buddy.

The police were probably responding like any other accident and not wanting to move the pilot/patient until medical arrived. Then the train came and changed all that in a hurry. They pulled the guy out through the missing windshield, so they were probably getting the plane ready for extraction...

Wouldn't that have made it even harder to see due to lack of relative motion?

The pilot was a passenger at the point of the crash. Unfortunately, the only thing he managed, was losing control of the airplane.

I did a couple of these during IFR training. Surprisingly not difficult.

I'm not sure how to check other than to use Fltpln Go to open GDL90. It's in that screen where you can choose internal GPS, or ADS-B GPS. It shows the connection as inactive. For some reason, when an Apple user connects to the 3i, it closes the GDL90 connection to Avare. I have to re-enable...
