If you get really concerned about the crosswind component with a magnetic variance of +-2 or +-3, as a student pilot, or ANY pilot for that matter, the next thing in your head should be "No Go for 1000 Alex!"
The actual crosswind delta will be a couple of knots at best.

LPV approaches are acceptable as precision approaches for the purposes of a checkride. You should call the DPE you're going to use. Better yet have your CFI call and talk to him/her.

Couple of questions I have, What airspeed were you shooting for on final? Flap settings? Carrying power all the way in or adding power to compensate for the gusts/shear?
