BFR and Checkout at the same time?

My BFR and complex endorsement came in my new Mooney. I had been out of country for a year and my CFI and I flew out to Oklahoma to fly her home to northern Maryland. The whole flight counted for both. Landed about ten minutes after midnight at my home base and got signed off for complex and BFR.

    Plane before licence?

My experience matches Gary down to the model. I bought a '56 172 because I was tired of trying to schedule training and having trouble working around other students and I was tired of paying so much. Nobody at my flight school took me seriously when I mentioned I might buy, so it was one reason...

Made the switch.. Garmin to Avidyne trade up program

Chase is who I worked with. Short of the hurricane(s) destroying and delaying shipments, it was all good. weather is out of his control anyway EDIT to also add... watch the free video included and/or read a manual. I'm based out of the DC FRZ now and 700 feet up under a brave shelf is no place...

Made the switch.. Garmin to Avidyne trade up program

There's a non waas version of the 440, you can do that trade up, or go the WAAS route and have the avionics guy install the waas antenna

Made the switch.. Garmin to Avidyne trade up program

And in case anyone is interested in the ease of swapping out a 430 or 530 for a 440/540 http://www.avidyne.com/files/downloads/600-00316-000.pdf

Made the switch.. Garmin to Avidyne trade up program

I have no idea what you're talking about. I have all the paperwork including the supplements, up to date software, and all the docs that I need. I bought this from a real company and it was new. Not a back alley avionics dealer. A ramp inspection would indicate a logbook entry for the install...

Made the switch.. Garmin to Avidyne trade up program

(caveat: I'm very happy with my experience with Avidyne and Avionics Source, but I have ZERO affiliation, your mileage may vary) Well gents.... earlier this year I bought an E model Mooney with a Garmin 430W. At another forum I visit frequently I saw a trade up program advertised and I took the...

For Sale 1956 Cessna 172 Time Machine

Can’t speak for this particular one, but I can plug the year, make and model. I bought a ‘56 to finish my private cert. I flew the hell out of it on a few vacations and around for fun. These things are easy to fly and land. Johnson bar flaps that go to 40 degrees are awesome. It’s very forgiving...

Want To Buy 1957 Cessna 172, price?

This is what I did. I had a '56 with an O-300. I bought it for a bit over $20k (mine had a 430 non-waas in it). I flew it for a few years, then I got deployed. Prior to deployment I sold it for almost the exact same that I bought it for and used that money as a down payment on my Mooney (I was...

    Identify this GPS

Any help identifying the GPS in the bottom of the stack in the attached picture? I've been out of the country since I sold my 172 and I'm looking at an aircraft to pick up this summer when I return. Through a series of looking, calling and posting, none of the aircraft I've had my eye on have...

Spraying water into a hot engine

Spraying water into a hot engine

Funny but I've actually encountered someone who argued the world was flat because pilots don't have to constantly trim down to make up for the curvature.

Spraying water into a hot engine

It's actually Tom arguing against myself, Glenn, science, the FAA, and an engine service instruction. I wouldn't be surprised if the next post argues for us to prove the world is round

Spraying water into a hot engine

Now we have authoritative proof. After an in-depth internet examination we have a solid statement that it is impossible this had any consequence. Maybe you can help the OP out and offer to provide the flight school an Internet X-ray of the engine too
