    It depends. You can always call for your clearance and tell them you're not ready and you'll call them back when you are ready. Which I think might achieve what you want - but means 2 phone calls. The advantage of that is you can call from the FBO the first time and take your sweet time figuring...

    Ah well yes - it's a good job we have the PTS for standardisation otherwise..... I think my Private and Instrument were by the book - but they were a) a long time ago and b) I was young, naive and foolish. Since then I've taken 6 checkrides, I've ALWAYS been asked for something not in the PTS...

    Eh? Are you discussing steep turns and the bank angle or did I miss something? The commercial is 50 degrees, the ATP is 45. No PTS requires a 60 degree bank that I know of.

    I guess I've never seen it as a problem to laminate it and then fold it. I can see if you used the thick kind of laminate that doesn't bend, but the stuff I've always used either goes through a small machine to be heated or is just sticky plastic you can buy at an office supply store.

    I agree with your goal. However - to achieve it FIRST we need an alternative way for people to build time, because paying for the first 250 hours is expensive, if people had to pay for the first 1200 who knows who could afford to make that happen. Which ultimately leads to a pilot shortage...

    I'm missing something. Why do you think CFI's are trying to build PIC time? All the "time builders" are trying to do is meet the Part 135 IFR requirements to act as PIC - there's no mention of a PIC time requirement, it's all just pilot time. So people with a Commercial and a CFI are still...
