    Length of aerobatic lessons?

just like this aerobatic wannabe did in a 172 (a poorly performed aileron roll degenerating into a SplitS). Probably pulled +4 Gs on pullout. Luckily, the wings didn't depart the airframe.

    Length of aerobatic lessons?

to each his own. with me, it's the negative G's that make me want to hurl. but the feeling is gone as soon as I'm positive again.

    Length of aerobatic lessons?

barrel roll isn't a zero G maneuver. it's a positive G maneuver. Typically, G's range from +1 to +3 G. You remain corrdinated throughout. You can fly a loop as a positive G maneuver if you pinch at the top. They're good ones to start with, but G's don't make you sick. Contradictions...

    Length of aerobatic lessons?

I offered to take a friend on an aerobatic flight but he declined due to a nausea experience on a prior flight. He told me the classic line "I would have thrown up, but I didn't know which way was up."

    Length of aerobatic lessons?

mine were .9 to 1.2 hours with only about 30 minutes of actual aerobatics...usually about 15 figures. How many lessons has he had? What figures is he practicing (pos or neg G)? Is it exhaustion or nausea? I expect with time, his endurance will improve (mine did).

    Headset chin strap

thanks Pitts driver. After I made one with a cat collar, I decided the buckle wasn't as good as velcro (and was a little uncomfortable under my chin) and I found some semi-elastic velcro bands that allowed me to do essentially what you suggested. I can't wait to try it out. Seems like it...

    Headset chin strap

haha. I took the cat collar suggeston. Cut it into a strap, velcroed it onto the ear cups. It's just a simple (red) adjustable band with the clasp in the center...should work well. We'll see if it holds. thanks.

    Headset chin strap

that's a great idea. I'll have to figure out how to stick it to the headset. Can't decide on the pink one with inset rhinestones or the heavy leather one with the iron studs. :yikes:

    Headset chin strap

Unless I hallucinated it, there is a chin strap on the market to secure your headset in inverted flight. I'd like to avoid the cloth helmet if possible. Had a set of bose ANRs fly off in an inverted spin today (low clamp pressure) and I'd prefer not to repeat that.

    Testing the Impossible Turn

From Rich Stowell: 1. Remember the number "8" -- This is the increase in the risk factor for death or serious injury when attempting a turnback following an engine failure during takeoff vs. landing straight ahead (or nearly so). What music ....

I don't know. The volume doesn't go high enough to drown out the screams of my instructor.

This did not turn out so good.

Ed, I used the same lawyer you did. Long story short, the university the guy attended (Universided de la Chico Rodriguez) isn't accredited, so his law school credits are inadmissible to the state bar. When he sat for the Bar Exam, he wasn't eligible. Any legal agreements he submitted to the...

    Aviation math: 52 + 20 = 73?

calculated slant (DME) distance (by pythagoras at 13,000')=72.0318, not 73 from Airnav: CWK-BLEWE=52.33 BLEWE-WINDU=20.39 CWK-WINDU therefore=72.72 it is a rounding error. also, the small open arrows indicate that the "leg length" of 52 can be identified by DME
