I hope this doesn't send Captain over the edge..

Hookers? Nah, I'm married and love my wife. Pain killers? Nah, Jim Beam is more than enough.

If you ever get a chance, try the pain killer. Available at Pusser's - they have a few restaurants stateside and a bunch in the Caribbean. Its the only fruity drink I really enjoy, lots of rum in there.

Thank you, one and all. BTW, I got my thread locked on the Red Board for commenting about the bicycle in the hold of my C-172. So, I'm getting a thicker skin. Probably not a reference that 'Captain' will understand.

Am I demented?

This is why I haven't posted on the red board in months. And the purple board is just too silly, even for me. So I chose POA.

OMG we have a mug at work where I keep the sugar packets for the coffee and it says "Pussers" and has a recipe for "pain killer." Small world.

Well, maybe you and Jesse can sort this out amongst yourselves and let me know what you figure out.

Seriously, I like both of you two and even Aunt Peggy. If Jesus H Christ posted 'cars' in the 'don't post about cars' section I'd say something.

I don't understand. Under Flight Following it says:

"Flight Following: GOT A GENERAL QUESTION TO ASK [OR] aviation topic to discuss? Establish contact here!"

Isn't that what she did? Not only was it a general question, it also WAS related to aviation as it was an aviation video.

I don't understand how this got so technical?

Yeah, Flight Following is a subset of Controlled Airspace. That has a blurb too:

Controlled AirspaceAll forums within this category are Aviation Only forums. Topics posted here not dealing with Aviation in some way will be moved or deleted.

The video topic was loose at best. Yes, it was an aviation video but the topic was how to upload the video. The 'best pedometer' thread has no link whatsoever.

Look, I don't really care, it's not my forum and like I've said, it's up to the users to weather this is important or not.

By the letter of the rule the post didn't belong. If Aunt Peggy gets special status because she's been here a long time, or she old, or people just like her then whatever. I'm not a forum cop. I'm a forum user and I made a post to point out that a threads location could be better. It's up to others what to do with that information.

Yet you played the part and became an 'authority figure'. You've been on this board long enough now to realize that the whole topic/location issue isn't pointed out pedantically and that there is 'management' of sort that works these things out.

As for your pointing out the forum headers, did you imagine that you were passing on some unknown information? Do you think people haven't already read those and decided what to do with that information, especially someone with a 2006 join date?

You should probably avoid combining alcohol and the internet...

Meh. I really don't care. I've put way more into this than its worth.

PoA, yes. But we have a special section for it: Hangar Talk. Jesse peeing in the well just shows his immaturity and poor leadership.

He has a perspective and a point. In fact his point seems to be in the majority. It's a big world out there with lots of forums...

I appreciate your feedback. I'll take it into deep consideration.

Hmmm, I think I may have said this before, "You seem to do that a lot.":D;)

Well I'm certainly not alone in that regard. Take this entire thread for instance.

: )

That's the whole thing, 90% of internet usage is people figuring out a stimulating way to waste time.

Yeah, but this forum does have value. This is the largest block of people with similar backgrounds that I have access to. I can ask how a magneto works or how to paint a fence (in the proper sections of course) and get that question reviewed by hundreds of people.

Many of my threads have gone into the THOUSANDS of views. I can't do that anywhere else. Point is, it's more than wasting time. It's mostly wasting time...but there is real value to me for this forum.

Henning knows everything already, so it's a waste of his time. Glad you're having a good experience, this thread notwithstanding.

There are over 8,000 members and if you look at "now" there are 8 times as many non members viewing threads as there are members. That is a lot of views. I personally know of a thread that got over 20,000 views.

Oh, I didn't mean to infer there was no value to be gained. However I'd bet that nearly any forum you get involved with you'll manage to create threads with thousands of views.;)

Not true. Many forums are barren wastelands with very few participants. For me, this is by far the largest. I'm curious about this 'red forum' you guys keep referencing. I assume the folks running this forum don't take kindly to discussing competing forums or dropping links to them...so I've left it alone.

We don't care. The Red Board is the AOPA forum: http://forums.aopa.org/ be sure to wear thick skin...

Red Board - AOPA Forums
Purple Board - Another place kinda like here, but different.

And there's others... of course... it's the Internet... :dunno:

"Red" is the AOPA forum, this board is a result of that board going from yellow to red, that was a different time...:rofl::rofl:

I seem to remember that Jesse has put a lot of time and his own money in this place- IIRC, he bought the servers PoAruns on and has put his own money in other items related to running this board. To a large extent, I consider this to be his "well".

True, BTW, has anyone seen/heard from Chuck in a while?

Jesse, you sure take a beating 'round here sometimes!

True that.

More to the point, I think Kimberly has a full head of her own hair whatever the color du jour.:D

She probably doesn't need reading glasses yet either. I take solace in the knowledge that I can probably still take her in Roller Derby...:rofl::rofl:

Jeez, Jesse, you hot linked those? Bad nettiquette.

 Why is that? It's for editorial use and it links to who should be the photographer. I would think it would be the preferred method as it provides evidence of 'fair use' violations; or am I missing something important?:dunno:

I'v got two Maples. One is red now. The Autumn Blaze goes red-orange in the fall.

I don't mind if someone hot-links against my images I host. In fact I'd prefer it because at least I know whats going on with them.

Some people dislike it because it's eating up the bandwidth of the various sites the images are being served from. But that is the internet.

Yeah, sorry, it's not 1991, hot links are the best way to 'serve all masters' when it comes to editorial use of copyrighted material.

As soon as you spend as much time, energy, and money as Jesse has helping members of this forum you have no room to talk.

David, I think the issue is that such behavior is indecorous from someone in a leadership position. You would do well to take note of it, leaders are held to a higher standard. To his credit, Jesse has received that criticism with apparent equanimity.

Probably. When we did drills even the tiny girls could knock me out of the circle. And this one girl, we called her the tank, she would slam into you so hard during practice you would think you broke an arm.
