North East Flyers - November Event

I'm out. Didn't really feel like flying IFR in the NE w/o any low altitude enroutes.

Looks like good IFR, lousy VFR, but no convection and no icing below 12,000. Since I've already got commitments for Sunday, it's Saturday or nothing, and I can use some instrument practice anyway (with my own hands on the stick for a change). Grab a CFI-I if you need one, but anyone who wants to see my new Aera 510 will have to be there on Saturday.

For all ya'll that holler "I want IFR I want IFR", well now you have it. We'll see you in Lancaster tomorrow.

Lancaster: Tower Controlled, ILS approaches, Flat terrain, Good Restaurant, POA - need anything else?

See you guys there! As Gary Mentioned, we are driving up since our wives are going shopping. Hopefully I'll have some spare change in my pocket for the Pilot Shop :D

AdamB and I will be there in the Aztec (filled with dog cages) tomorrow at about noonish!

I'm out then too... no room in the Aztec

And Ted isn't a CFII yet so I haven't finished my IR...

And I have a headace. Not enough water after the PreParty at Ted's last night....

Is your lawn done though? Mowed, leaves raked,.... :ihih:

Missa, you're never going to get your instrument sign-off at this rate. Tony will tell you what it took to get my ATP. ;)

Well, Adam and I are still planning on being there. Anyone else?

Waiting on Rob then we are driving up. Ron is heading up from SBY after that I'm not sure.

See you all then, Gary!

I'm out.

Way too much to do around here during daylight hours. May try and take the plane up this evening (night currency), but now that the rain and wind have stopped I gotta work outside.

My yard looks like a giant leaf and stick pile, the car needs some stuff done, and I gotta go pick up my new overpriced glasses.

Bah. Y'all have fun.

NXX (Willow Grove) is forecasting cigs down to 600-800. That's fine and all, but I was hoping for better return weather because Wings (just 5 miles SW) only has GPS approaches and I don't have none of that space technology - only use iron gauges. I may have to rethink this trip or stage a car up at KTPW where we can return via LOC approach and drive home from there. (Jeapardy music in background).

Unfortunately something came up and I am no longer able to make the trip.

I really wanted to meet up with you all, even made up Pilot Shop brochures with special POA discounts for you guys.

Sorry, I wont be able to see you. I will try to make the next one.

Dave

I'd have been happy to take you with me. I'm also based at Wings. We can certainly get there but the return looks like it might be below mins. I hate to have to leave the plane somewhere else for a hamburger hunt.

When is KLOM getting a WAAS approach?

Hi Dave,

I spent 30 mins on the phone with FSS. There are now 3 Low pressure systems within our area (MAAC), two slowly moving and one stalled. A High pressure system over in West Virginia-but losing out to the hefty lows. Willow Grove is showing a TEMPO for 500-600' ceilings Between 18-22Z (right around our return). I'm thinking it's not gonna be easy for the Viking Witch, Beth, and I to get back into wings without having the option of shooting a GPS approach.

We're still going, leaving in a few minutes, but gonna do it via 4 wheels. I hate that, since I honestly enjoy flying IMC. In this case though, I can't select a better return destination without it being a big pain in the brown-eye to get her back to Wings.

Thanks Dave for the offer. How do you like your V-tail? I flew a 1953 Bonanza V-Tail in Vegas for a year or two and its by far, my favorite aircraft to fly. Perhaps we can fly together in both aircraft some time.

Shane

Shane good move driving. I wish I knew you were driving I'd have hitched the back seat. Wx has dipped blow mins at LOM a few times in the past hour. And its getting Scuzzier.

Yea, you should be here! It's raining sideways and the wind is howling! A good "inside" day.

Funny, Co-pilot :blowingkisses:is sick yet she has enough strength to keep my project list alive and find new ones...:yikes:

Was great seeing everyone who made it! Adam and I are now in North Carolina. Two instrument approaches today, fun flight. Tomorrow load up the dogs and we'll be heading back north.

Shane,
Great idea to get together and fly the old birds. I was going to suggest tomorrow but it's looking like that weather isn't moving out.

Keep me posted if anyone does on Sunday. I would still like to meet some of you for the first time

Fun time!

Here are a few shots. Around the table left to right.....

Empty seat was mine, AdamB, Scott, Ron, Beth, Shane,Bryon,Ted, Rob, Bella and Ally

Figures Gary catches a shot of my Aztec when I forgot to put the flaps up and didn't realize it until after the engines were shut off. ;)

Was great seeing everyone! Looking forward to the next one!
