We had to back out. Minor medical issue with my daughter that came with some hefty bills so we are cutting non essential expenses for a bit.

I will be sending @eman1200 in my place.

@eman1200 be careful. There is a whoopdiedoo in the middle of the runway. It will be tempting to try and fly when you hit it.
Best to just let the nose come down and porpoise 1 time and then launch.

Post lots of photos.

Well - I pulled the trigger on my back up plane. Winds are looking out of spec for my Cessna 170 abilities. Also Sunday looking IFR. If anyone needs a ride down/back (cough @eman1200). I have seats and in flight bev’s.

hhmmm, I didn't know CLT was on your way to gastons.......

Is not looking good for us. Master cylinders are leaking. Going to rebuild all of them. repair kits should arrive tomorrow. If it wasn't an 8.5 hour drive. I'd plan for that as a backup. Hope to be able to join this weekend!!!

Planning to fly in Friday morning - wx permitting (looks good as of now!)
Given the lack of lodging in the area it'll probably just be a day trip for me (I've checked repeatedly over the last few days).
Looking forward to meeting any folks that are there Friday :)

Looking forward to meeting you. Keep calling the lodge, they often get last minute cancellations.

Just a thought, Gastons is about 30 miles by air from BBG (Branson, Mo) and there are literally 1,000's of rooms there, and this is basically the off-season for them.

Very generous offer! Sent a DM to give you some details around that. Also that Branson idea from @Mxfarm - I hadn't even thought about that...

I'm flying down to St Louis today to visit some friends and will continue calling/checking to see if anything has opened up. Then'll make the quick hop over to Gaston's tomorrow AM.

Look forward to meeting folks!

You should never have to pay a medical bill for the rest of your life with as much as you pay for health insurance. Hope all is well

I’m unable to make it! I really thought there was a good chance of getting the Archer buttoned Up in time to come!!! Guess I’m the someone this time. Gaston’s rep “There’s always 1 that cancels last minute”

So bummed we're missing it. The river is really low!

Looks like peak colors might be a week or two away? Or maybe it's just the light.

Nah, you're spot on. Peak colors aren't here yet. It's supposed to be like 80 F today so that explains why!

The fishermen here were commenting about the water level too.

80?! High of 58 up here today; frost this morning. It rained a couple tenths last night, so I'm not even sure I'm going to get to go to the field today. Instead I'm torturing myself wishing I was there lol.

@masloki ....last weekend of October would be peak colors, and I'd be nearly done with harvest most years.....just sayin' for next year......

Believe me I considered it... hard. I'm still hopeful I can get something done here this afternoon, and the lance is still in the shop. It's a 3.5 hr flight in the Cessna.... one way...I would've done it if I got to stay a couple days, but a day trip would result in me being there for about 10 minutes. At a minimum I'd want to be there 8.1 hours so I could slam a couple homebrews :)

That deck looks awesome. Glad you guys are having a good time!

That site is wonky. Who’s gonna believe I was run over by a bus filled with penguins?

i went a couple of years ago and there was NOBODY there. Ate lunch in the restraurant, and my spouse and I went home.

The aforementioned POA Lurker asked about you. We mentioned that solo year of yours!

Back from Gaston’s. A good time was had by all. Saw some old friends and met some new ones. Good Wx, river was LOW, fishing sucked, scenery was nice as usual.

I had a nice runway inspection on the way out. Susan videoed it but hit the wrong button so there’s no proof.

saw a Nice Caravan come in there Saturday.

see y’all next year!
