Gaston's is requesting feedback

Country? I don't listen to country  People will never believe you if you tell them otherwise :goofy:

He did listen to country I swear he did. In the car and in the plane. I didn't realize they had country music in CA. Oh wait...he had XM radio.

In both the car AND in the plane. It can't get much better than that!

Ok, a word of warning (two words): a) I'm almost starting to think that this music is only good while you're in Hawaii and it might not at all work in Arkansas and b) I have very odd taste

Warning noted, and I will give it a go.
PS no one has wierder taste than me, I have discovered!

ooo I thought of another....a freezer packed full of BlueBell icecream on the flightline!!!

I just got back from our nightly volleyball game so got to thinking if there was enough interest, I could round up a net ball and court markings....would have to find some uprights - anyone play? Maybe a morning/eve thing as its pretty hot in the day.

Flight line music? Not too loud or distracting...something soft in the background (like Shakira?!).

I wouldn't mind Shakira being there. :D

That said, where would we play volleyball that we wouldn't risk getting the ball on the runway or otherwise getting in the way of flight ops?

Also, do we REALLY need another thing to do at Gaston's? It seems like we have lots of great ideas (like bringing musical instruments) that never seem to work, or at least don't get repeated. The only things that happen consistently at Gaston's are flying, drinking, and eating. But, we'll try anything once! Ya never know, it might stick. Count me in for the volleyball. :D

He's a pilot. We should invite him to come to Gastons and preform live.
How about John Denver. He's a pilot too! Ooops!

Actually, I saw Jimmy Buffett's C-208 on amphib floats at KEYW a couple of years ago.

Flying, drinking, and eating work pretty well for me. Volleyball would have to happen after flying stopped, i.e. after dark, which could interfere with drinking and eating, mostly drinking.

I like how you think, Tony.......B)

How about a badminton tournament.....more civilized - slower pace - not so sweaty.....

Nah, drinking just makes Vollyball more interesting... at least for the spectators.

"I got it" <CRASH><THUD> "OUCH!"

Jimmy Buffett! THERE'S flight-line music!

My sister knows him pretty well, but she does not get along at all with Jimmy's wife. I guess when she called her Mrs Bu-fay, as a joke she took it the wrong way and has been mad at her ever since.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe across the road where the fly-fishing clinic is held. The kids might like it too.

Besides, I'm too spastic to play volleyball any more.

RE: Sporting Events at Gastons.

I vote for basketball.

Maybe--but I would like to try and avoid having people there as much as possible when any flying is occurring.

Well, good luck trying to enforce that one. If I want to hang out over there, then I'm going to hang out over there.

Diana--I'm not trying to enforce anything. I'm just make a suggestion that is in the interest of safety. Are we not allowed to make suggestions?

Maybe you could make that suggestion to Gaston's too.

Are we not allowed to disagree with you? ;)

Sure--and I probably read into it too far--but what you wrote didn't read as disagreeing to my eyes :)

There isn't much room at Gastons. I can see them wanting to use that space and I can see why it would be nice if we could as well.

Obviously there are safety problems with using that space when there is an airplane landing every minute. I'm not sure there is a solution--I know I wouldn't want to have my back to the runway. Nor would I want to get complacent by standing there all day not watching the runway.

In the event of an airplane over-running hopefully everyone would scatter in time. Of course the more stuff sitting over there the more likely the damage to the plane would be. It is awful hard to get a large group of people to scatter on short notice--even more so when there are little ones involved.

I lost my deposit too. I knew going in what the policy was. I called and said I'd have to cancel and that I was sorry I couldn't make it. They siad they were sorry too. That's good enough for me.

Today I received a post card form Gaston's saying they were sorry we couldn' make it down. I thought that was kinda nice. I'll try again next year.

Now Diana we need to talk about the weather.

Guess I'll have to drink all this wine alone :D

There are few people about whom I could say that the music they listened to was a perfect match for them. I have to admit that I was not the least bit surprised to hear Shakira through my headsets in your plane, though.

I vote for Ho'okoa. Ever since I got back from Hawaii, I can't stop listening to them on my way to work :cheerswine:

I've got several steel drum CDs I could bring along. YA know that'd put people in a "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" mood.

I would think as a matter of safety that Gaston's would have signs posted and some sort of barrier (just a yelow rope might do) along the edge of the runway that the area beyond is an active runway. It is after all Gaston's responsibility to keep guests reasonably safe.

Maybe Jason could present this thought to the management.

Just my $.02
