Do they really sell enough watches to sponsor a jet team, air races, etc? Or is there another revenue stream I'm missing?
I like the large faced watches. I've always wanted a Breitling but always had other priorities in watches. I have a Rolex, a Bell&Ross, a U-boat, and Omega. Some day I'll own a Breitling. By the way, always buy second hand. Retail is for suckers.
Between the top makers, I'd choose a Rolex over any of them. As eman said, the Breitling's are too big for my wrist.
Boy I can think of a lot better things to spend 5k on than a watch...gotta have some serious disposable income to do that I guess.
I spent mine on primary training instead of a watch. it's hard to 'splain to people who don't have the watch itch but yeah, I understand your point.
Actually I hear that if you wear a Breitling while flying it increases your piloting skills by 72.4%...impressive
What's funny is that my $300 Samsung Gear S2 "watch" can perfectly emulate a Rolex, Breitling, Omega, or any other watch on the planet -- AND it's a cell phone.
And a GPS. And a music player. And a compass, flashlight, timer, news reader, text messager, health tracker...
I think you mean it can display a picture that looks like the face of a Rolex. That's not the same thing as emulating a Rolex. What's funny is that my $300 Samsung Gear S2 "watch" can perfectly emulate a Rolex, Breitling, Omega, or any other watch on the planet -- AND it's a cell phone.

The pilot with the biggest watch, you know, is the better pilot.....
And here's the ultimate expression of that:The pilot with the biggest watch, you know, is the better pilot.....
Rolex annual revenue is something like $5,000,000,000. Don't know about Breitling, but even if it's half of that... Still, I doubt 100% of the costs of the jet team are coming out of Breitling's pocket.
I just don't understand why you would need such an expensive watch. My $100.00 Timex tells time just as good. It's lasted 10 years and if I loose it I wouldn't feel the need to file an insurance claim.
My $10,000 rolex tells time worse than your timex. But it's a rolex and I bought it to signify a special moment in my life. Timex doesn't really do that the same way.I just don't understand why you would need such an expensive watch. My $100.00 Timex tells time just as good. That ad is freakin' INCREDIBLE.And here's the ultimate expression of that:
..it's nine minutes long, but has some good flying in it.
"You're not a pilot...you're someone who wears a nifty uniform and operates a computer...."

Bremont offers a watch commemorating a very special school I was fortunate to attend. My class opted for the 'Image Watches' version with our class logo on the face ordered from the back of some airline rag. Something like $15 apiece with the first sample free, but I wouldn't trade it for the Bremont version AND a Rolex. My $10,000 rolex tells time worse than your timex. But it's a rolex and I bought it to signify a special moment in my life. Timex doesn't really do that the same way.
The kind of respect a big watch alone won't get you.I am type rated in the P-51D. What can I get for that?
go sit at a poker table in a casino and you'll see the type of people that wear breitlings. they're generally too big for me but some of them look aight.
