Paris attack.... how might we protect ourselves?

Brilliant analysis by you. Yes, all expenditures are just returning/spending money already paid (or borrowed if people don't pay enough taxes).

But, if you look at the top chart I posted, you will see it is a bunch of old guys that are making the decision on overspending and undertaxing.

Please don't associate the old crooked guys in DC with the rest of the 99.99993% of the population....

Nice try to spin it your way though....

The age of a decision maker is about as relevant as eye color or shoe size. A dumb-a** is a dumb-a**, regardless of his time span on the planet.

Saw some young(ish) dummies on the news, at a college - apparently, the first amendment only applies if you are in agreement with them. That works out good for their credibility.

Were I to conclude that most young(ish) liberals are intolerant and close minded, then I would be the dumb-a**, wouldn't I? What I think is the ones I saw were stupid, intolerant, close minded, and closet fascists.

Can't remember - was it Attila the Hun? Churchill, maybe? The quote was "People get the government they deserve".

I think I'll protect my self by starting a pulled pork sandwich shop on a nude beach, with a liquor sign out front.

Elected by whom?

Good point....

Just think if the delicate snowflakes who are now demanding free college education for everyone, forgiveness of all student debt, and $15/hour for student employment on campus were the ones making decisions in Congress.

Here's an adult schooling one of these delicate snowflakes:

Like young punks could do any better? How old was O when he took office?

Fun facts:

The average age of the signers of the Declaration was 44.

The average life expectancy at birth in 1776 was 35.

So you owe the country's founding to a bunch of codgers well past their expiration dates.

Elected by whom?

Generally elected by other old people who have no problem screwing over the younger generations.

Older people always turn out more than younger. That is why there are never any serious proposals to change social security or medicare.

Funny how 3/5 of a person didn't have a long life expectancy.

You might want to look at the voter ages of the 2012 presidental election...:wink2:

You know, the kids who were given free health care till 26 while on their parents insurance,,, and FREE Obama phones. etc etc...

It's called "representative government".

Only those who turn out get to be represented.

Odd that I need to explain that.

Unfortunately this is not the case. In a two party system (like ours) we have two extremes. Neither represent me. I likely wont vote in this upcoming election (atleast federally) Because none of the candidates come close to my beliefs.

Those of us that are in the middle and have varying beliefs on both sides of the coin are not even almost represented in our system and feel that voting is a "lose-lose" situation.

I may not as well. I withheld my vote in 2008 for reasons similar to yours.

In which case we would simply be voluntarily forfeiting our right to be represented.

Which is our right.

I dont know his background and I wont hazard to guess, just keep in mind "building" and "engineering" are two very different things.

Edit: I know Ben built a zenith with a ford engine

That he used a Ford should tell you all you need to know about Ben...

You do realize that half that debt was run up in the last 7 years and mostly given to social programs and scams like "shovel ready projects" aimed at the youth.... And the motive was to buy votes....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:..

I will say it again... The kids are royally *ucked....

Do you realize that the majority of debt is sitting in the Federal Reserve earning interest since Quantitative Easing?

Yeah he doesn't want his engine to quit like any sensible person!

If he used a GM product that'd be damn near suicidal! :D

Ok you two.....

Be nice.. I am still alive, but then I didn't fly the death trap today either...

So far .....baltimore is far ahead of Paris for gun deaths. Paris ...126....baltimore , more than three hundred and far more wounded in baltimore this year. Many more Americans killed by indiscriminate shootings than in France, Germany, etc.

Irrelevant.

Those aren't indiscriminate. Those people know each other.

Yep, and I believe that there are more of us in this unrepresented middle ground than on either left or right. It's part of why the vast majority of Americans stay home on election day.

Gotta agree with this also. I can't recall ever voting "for" someone in a presidential election and I don't see any great choices in the upcoming one.

That's sad (not a putdown).

I was happy to vote for President Reagan, the first President Bush (both times), and Romney. Definitely voted against Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Obama.

I suppose you could say I also voted against that idiot Dukakis... had waaaaaaaaaaay too much of him as Governor.

I never stayed home - I really don't agree that not voting is a good idea. I expect that people would feel some candidate would be better than the other, by however small a margin. But, it is your right to vote and thus your right not to.

I didn't say I stayed home. But I was never enthusiastic about the person I ended up voting for. The lesser of two evils, so to speak.

It seems as if the people I am more in agreement with, in both parties, get knocked out in the early stages because they are too moderate for both bases. That's all I will say for fear of getting too SZ-like.
