Scholarships!

Love has nothing to do with people who live in a fantasy world, where others are required to agree with their poisoned, poofy view of the world. When you grow up, grow out of your insane hatreds, and stop pretending the world is evil because people are (gasp) allowed to ignore your opinion, blaspheme against your most closely held make-believe diatribes, and think you're just swell, you might make a good friend, someday... to someone.

I'm obsessed with saying, "Thanks!" to Stacey for posting this information.

Anything that helps to expand the footprint of aviation is a good thing, and improving the traditionally-poor participation rate of women is a valuable initiative.

Agreed!

American society is changing and for the better. This is the country that had the courage to vote for a black president.

I'm always surprised at how rightwing these pilot groups are. Why? Because they are over represented by old white men. Not all old white men are so ignorant but a disproportionate number are.

Have a lovely Friday.

:D
Yay to all scholarships! Scholarships are good.

Now.

Voting for a black for president took courage? Why?

I am not old, nor am I a man, and I find some interesting and quite viable perspectives in this pilot group. I enjoy our dialogue in SZ. There are, in fact, a number of excellent arguments that in some ways America is not changing for the better.

I am looking forward to hearing an explanation for why voting for a black president took courage, because I can't think of any reason myself why that should be so.

That's it?

Got no intellectual comeback?

I'd love to have an intellectual discussion with you. Unfortunately, your hyperbole about American colonization, etc and attacks against FC's and my generation preclude any intelligent sociological discussion.

By the way, where are all of these colonies of which you speak? I'll grant you Guam and Puerto Rico, but honestly, if that's it, we're the world's worst colonists.

On behalf of FC and myself, we sincerely apologize for offending the feelings of your generation. We will be sending you a nice blue participation ribbon. I hope that soothes your hurt feelings.

All I'm saying if there is a scholarship to help a disadvantaged group, just STFU and let it be and don't whine about it. That is not directed at you but another certain whiner who was the first to complain on this innocent thread about helping more women get into aviation.

So women are a "disadvantaged group"?

(You put very little thought into that post. LOL!)

No idea why women don't choose aviation, but women are not very common in IT either, and there's always a bunch of hand-wringing about it -- which isn't very interesting. Anyone can learn this job. But the best folks enjoy the technical aspects.

As far as the thread goes, it's a total loss as far as credible commentary goes. But here's thoughts...

I'm happy there are scholarships for whomever can get them ... So whatever. People want to give their money to younger folks to educate them, their choice.

Lack of women in various jobs isn't the end of the world, nor is it really all that interesting at the end of the day. There's also a low number of male nurses and no one really cares. The guys who do it, love it, and enjoy it. Got a friend who's done it for three decades. He whines that the new nurses always holler for him to come help them lift the fat asses in the ER. He then shows them how to move people without being muscular or big.

There was a photo of two black ladies in an airliner cockpit floating around FB the other day. Thought it was kinda neat. I was more interested in the background stories. Did they grow up well enough off to pay for all the flight time? Military to pay for it? Civilian side? Instructors? How did they find an interest in aviation? What was their path in life?

But I'm interested in that story in all pilots. Don't really care about skin pigment or gender.

(For the record, from the comments I saw, one of them is a daughter of one of the Tuskegee Airmen. You grow up around something, you often have an interest in it. Neat.)

I think the PC attitude that everyone must like or approve of everything everyone else likes or does, or that there's some magic number of people in each stereotype, race, creed, gender, or whatever labels get slapped on humans, who need to do every job role, is stupid.

If women want to fly, there's really nothing stopping them. A whole bunch of women here on PoA can out-fly my ass. And the scholarships are cool.

More pilots is good. I don't care what type. More airplanes too. Same thing. Maybe even those whirlybird things.

I'm leaving my fortune to nudist pilots. They're severely underrepresented and a "disadvantaged" group in my opinion. In-flight fires suck without Nomex.

Sorry I really tried to read this but there are too many disjointed thoughts sort of all just heaped up randomly with single sentence paragraphs. I just don't have the patience to string them all together and try to combine them into a coherent thought.

I am so sorry. I'm sure it is a masterpiece.

Voting for a black for president took courage? Why?

It took courage for so many people to ignore his race and vote for him on his merits. This would not have happened 50 years ago. Society is changing. Maybe you don't like how it is changing?

And we're getting seriously off topic here. If you are genuinely interested in truly understanding that point there are plenty of excellent commentaries on that topic out there. Google is your friend. Have at it!

it!

That's nothing but adolescent projection, and bull****.

I'd say many people ignored his merits (which are few, so that would take courage indeed) and voted for him based solely on his race, but you're right, that's seriously off topic.

Again, scholarships are wonderful.

I'm not going to even dignify this amazing display of complete ignorance and lack of knowledge of what has happened in the last few centuries. Let's not even talk about slavery, colonialism, imperialism and the large scale protectionism that has existed for you and your granddaddies. And if your ancestors were poorer than the average around them, then shame on them for being so pathetic in spite of every opportunity afforded to them.

This is exactly the type of revisionist, anti-White, anti-male, anti-American history that my children have been fed in college.

Luckily, my son was ROTC, and we were able to teach him proper world history. My daughter, however, is a senior at A&M, and continually spews this venomous theory of how White people have effed the world. Her guilt for being white hangs on her like a lead weight, and no amount of deprogramming seems to help.

If you get a chance, go visit the Texas History Museum in Austin. This once-grand museum has been transformed into a 3-story apology for what the White man did to Texas. Narchee could have written the captions under each self-flagellating display of regret.

Funny how the people who did the stealing don't think it was stealing...

Want to know what would be poetic justice? If a group of people who were much stronger descended on America and their form of law and property ownership didn't recognize your claims, and they took all your stuff and maybe brought a bunch of diseases too and half your family got wiped out... I have this funny feeling you Jay would be bleating louder than anyone else.

I'm glad to hear your daughter is getting a proper education. Like I said in another thread, this will all fix itself. All you old codgers with your old fashioned views will die out at some point.

And good riddance

;)

Oh, the irony of you not knowing enough about American history to appreciate that many of our ancestors came here precisely because they were disenfranchised at home. I suspect they would laugh aloud at your assertion that they were in any way "privileged"...

My German ancestors arrived here with nothing, and (along with immigrants from all over the world) built America. They are to be revered, admired, and emulated -- not vilified, as they are by the idiots teaching in our government schools today.

Not sure what the norm is but I was never taught anything bad about the Germans who immigrated to America  They did the whole WW2 thing but that's about as far as it went. I lived there for two years and found them to be pretty nice people with awesome food :D

Descrimination is always attractive until it isn't, like the United Negro College fund is embraced but should someone create the united Caucasian college fund, white men college fund, it is never acceptable...

While the UNCF was created for the express purpose of encouraging a greater number of black students to attend college, the Fund does not restrict its scholarships to African-American applicants.

Exactly. I was SOOO much smarter than my dad when I was in college. Then once I got married and had a child, some how, some way, he magically got much smarter all of the sudden. He did an amazing transformation. ;)

Why don't you post proof of your statements? ;) Oh that's right, you can't. You won't be able to produce one shred of evidence that your German ancestors are being "vilified in our goverment schools today".

Clearly you are victim of your ego, and your misplaced self image.

As for micro aggression against FC? There is none. He and his type will die out soon. American society is changing and for the better. This is the country that had the courage to vote for a black president. It wouldn't have happened back in the day when FC was in the median. No, his type is dying out and good riddance.

The blind, knee pad, think what-ever-you're-told-to-think, venom you're spouting makes you a joke, not a warrior for equality.

Boy, isn't that the truth. The progressives should be so embarrassed that they are so swayed by their leaders. The lack of independent thinking is stunning.

It's not their leaders. It's their owners. They sold themselves out, hook, line, and sinker. What a waste a promising generation.

So let me get this straight: You're using some TV show called the ducks of hazard or something as an argument because it shows your flag? Do you know how retarded that sounds? I am so sorry I didn't grow up here so never saw your juvenile tv show so that argument doesn't work to well for me.

Oh okay I found your ducks of hazard show. Now it all makes sense!

LMFAO!!!

Your ridiculous arguments are inferior, infantile, and ineffective, but keep on entertaining us...:rofl::rofl:

This thread is totally off the rails and seriously disrespectful to the OP and his/her original intent. I'm embarrassed to be seen here other than to suggest SHUT IT DOWN.
G'day.

Agree 100%. Scholarships for women to learn to fly are a terrific idea, and deserve our support in every way.

As would scholarships for men to learn how to fly.

Here we go again.

Why? Men make up 93% of all pilots.

;) , I'm sure that we can all agree that the entire pilot population is decreasing. Therefore why not encourage all? I would love to see a survey of the student pilot dropouts to see their reasons. I bet the #1 reason for both genders will be financial but perhaps the reason men are 93% is because more men are interested then women? I will say it is sad how this thread went downhill....any opportunity for someone to get a hand up is always good.

Re: Scholarships!aaa

Agree. Thanks to her for posting these opportunities. I have also been remiss in not congratulating her for her new position within the organization!

I agree too. And I enjoy reading the diatribes, some of which I agree with and some I don't. But I think some of our posters exhibit Trumpism, less than a perfect ability to communicate their thoughts.

Oh I don't think so at all. He can communicate his thoughts. They just happen to be wrong.

:D

The diatribes may be mildly entertaining to some in a train wreck sort of way but I don't think people of either gender will be encouraged to join the pilot community if they think the majority behaves like this.

Really people, was it necessary to trash a thread about scholarships?

Paragraphs are hard. We know. Go back to texting.

Guys, you can't reason with people like narchee; the combination of ignorance and monumental self-righteousness is a lost cause ;-)

No, don't try to "reason" with me. You will lose every time. But don't feel bad about it. Greater people than you have tried and failed as well.

(Why so serious everyone? Relax. None of this is real).

I will agree that egomania is always present when you post. Reason? Not so much.
