Flew over the Big House today. Assuming I don't have too much to do, I'll be somewhere in there tomorrow. Go Blue!

Decided to dip down low over the lake yesterday... no boat traffic (and I overflew once to check for power lines--not that I was even low enough for that) before anyone tries to cite the FARs. This is what aviation is all about!

Awesoem pics! I love doing that type of thing; My normal stomping ground for that is the Missouri river. Sometimes even follow it right to the airport, where I have to climb a few hundred feet to get established on short final...

While I'd love to, the insurance policy at the FBO prohibits operations on strips less than 3000' :( Guess that's just more reason to buy my own plane...
Andrew, come over to Moraine. I will get you in less than 3000....
Ok, you Vandy myself and one other in a plane with no such prohibition

3000ft! Really?!
Oh oh me me *hand raised

Maybe AJ would be a candidate for a low cost 140 after some sweat equity!!

Long term fix but, fix none the less.

With the strip there at Moraine, I'd certainly hope that the renters there are authorized on "shorter" strips (not that 3000 is super short, especially for a 152 or 172), especially when the winds favor 08...

So, when are we going to 3W2? :p VanDy keeps making excuses about stuff needing fixed on his T-craft, looks like I've gotta leech a ride from someone else!

My buddy dropping skydivers over the pentagon. Thought they were pretty cool. Last one you can see the flag hanging from them.

Landing at Palm Springs, CA
My first cross country (dual) destination, I learned to fly over at KAPV. I remember it well; got stuck out in a holding pattern over a VOR for an hour and a half and then ATC forgot to vector us down to the runway.

Here's one on takeoff out of KAPV, right after my checkride years ago (2009?). My dad, a former RAF interceptor pilot, took this one from the right seat.

After thinking about it, I might actually have the video he was taking too. Let me see if I can find it..

//edit

Yeah, here we go, found it on Myspace *shudder*. Surprised they still have it posted after all of the revamps over the years and my inactivity. It sure didn't feel like it was being recorded on a potato back then but man!

Thanks! I'd say it turned out better than expected but when you consider the cost of painting an aircraft these days you do expect it to look good.

The desert obtains a totally new level of beauty with a bit of snow doesn't it? Very nice!

Some shots over the top of KATL on Sunday

Is that a control linkage above her head?

The box is the spar pass through, and the fitting to the right of her head is the end cap of one of the spar retaining pins. There is another in the same spot on the other side you can't see. Farther outboard, yes that is a linkage. There are holes farther aft that let you get to the other linkages, everything is very easy to inspect and maintain.
