Why Android is better than Apple:

Same question....my answer was 19:28
(well, 7:28PM)

I asked Siri, "What is Zulu Time" and she wanted to show me times for the movie, "Zulu" with Michael Caine.

Got Siri to respond correctly by asking the time in Greenwich, England.

There's an App for that. ;)

Cheers

Do iPad users really need an app for adding 6? Really? Please tell me we haven't gotten THAT helpless.
I would, but I would be lying to you. Have you paid cash in a store lately and tried to get change. Without the computerized cash register telling them they would never figure out the change. If you want to have some fun go to the supermarket, pay in cash and after the cash amount is put into the register, give the cashier the fraction of the dollar amount and see if they give you the right change. More often than not they cannot. Welcome to the age of those that cannot do math.

No, I just add four, not six being in EDT zone.

Cheers

"What Zulu time is it where you are?"

Actually had a crew scheduler ask a friend this once.

I do this frequently to get rid of pennies. Hand the kid pennies and nickels to her back quarters and do it after that have hit the compute and open the drawer button.

Plus your post reminds me of the infamous Taco Bell $2 bill story.

was it correct? The UK should be on daylight savings time now

20:27 in Denton right now... Siri says 0227 in Greenwich.

"Siri, what is UTC time?" on my ipad. She came up with a local town and two clocks using http://www.wolframalpha.com/. It works fine, but it is always a button push away on my $20 wal mart watch.

Norman was the first person to get my sense of humor. :)

I don't "expect" much out of Siri as a computer guy. Heh.

One of the local Mac geeks that follows everything Apple does, religiously, says Siri is "smarter" in the upcoming iOS 7. Downside is, it'll do updates to itself and eat your bandwidth in the background perhaps without you knowing it.

Since I already don't hit my 6GB shared bandwidth limit between four devices (two for me, two for Karen... no I'm not that much of a gadget geek... One iPhone one iPad each...) I won't much care, but folks who stream all day right up to their limits, might be surprised.

One co-worker has the iOS 7 beta on his device. I see good and bad. Various updates are nice, but the UI is "meh" to me. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I won't be upgrading until Foreflight says "go" on the iPad since that's its primary "job". Phone will go first. Whenever it gets released and maybe after the first round of "OMG this crap doesn't work!" reports from the masses and the first "dot" release to fix whatever that is.

FWIW, co-worker says battery management on the iPhone 5 is much better. He sees two days of heavy usage now vs one. That's nice. I miss my phones that lasted a week, but obviously they didn't do any "computer in your pocket" stuff.

By the way, asking Siri "What is the current UTC" works, by tricking her to go look it up on Wolfram Alpha. Lame but works.

I'm an Apple guy, but I've found Siri to be mostly useless. I could really use Siri when I'm driving in the car and need to locate an address or phone number, but the address either isn't located or not correct, and Siri will refuse to even look up phone numbers on the iPad because the iPad can't make phone calls. I'm not asking to make a phone call, I'm just asking for a telephone number. Frustrating.

I was able to find contact info with Siri on my iPad. I just said "Look up _(name)_ contact info" and it showed me the vCard info including phone number.

Try it for a number not in your local address book, such as a restaurant, and it will tell you that you can't make phone calls from the device. I'm assuming that this would actually work on an iPhone.

Works for local contacts. Completely ignores any remote contacts like Exchange integration. You have to go through all of them and add the ones you want to voice dial.

Experimented a bit more and this is correct. It is hit and miss, mostly miss. Unless you are able to ask for the exact name of the biz, Siri doesn't find it.

My use is for Siri is mostly asking for the weather, dictating SMS messages, and setting a reminder.
