A young, self employed landscaper I know just finished doing some work for me and he called to ask a favor. Seems he wanted to take his gf for a ride in an airplane then asked her to marry him. They have been planning the event, but he had not officially asked and she had not officially accepted. Complicated I know, but it is what it is.

So he calls and asks me for a favor to take him and his gf for a ride. I say sure let's plan something soon. He says; "I was hoping tonight would work.".

So I checked with my wife and she says let's do it! We meet at he airport and take off to watch the sunset. I then find out he had just ask her dad for her hand in marriage, and they live 75 miles away. In a plane that does 200 mph that is not far! So we send them a text message and the are standing outside as we make 3 passes over head rocking the wings. The mom and dad were crying as their oldest daughter had just been asked to marry.

A very fun night as we watch the sunset and do a night landing to taxi up and find my wife has gone all out with food, beverages, and plenty of camera work for the young couple to record their engagement day.

Some days are just too fun not to share. Today, was one of them. :D

Young love is really something special.

Cool story! Another fine example of why we fly!

More than anything else I love sharing the experience of aviation with others. Sounds like this was a perfect example of that.

nice..

i want to propose to my gf in a flight, but she doesn't even trust me driving a car.

Well, most of the time I am based out of San Marcos - I would be happy to pilot during your engagement flight.

It really was one of the highlights of my flying career. :D

Not to get all mushy, but we could not help talk about their future as we sat their "hangar flying" after landing. Thinking of the beautiful children they will soon have running around. The homes they will have. The holiday parties. All of their future. As we watched the stars come out. It really was something to behold.

I just can't help but think of the babies they will have, and their futures, and their babies!

Life is good!

Very cool! Having a plane goes give one the ability to make moments like this and others special in a very different manner!

Old love ain't too bad either!

For sure. I've got 27 years with my best friend who also happens to be my wife, co-pilot, and business partner. And we dated for nine years before that! :D

Awesome story, and great memories... but someone needs to get themselves some photography skills.

Great story Larry. It's great when we can use GA for something pecoal like that.

It's nice when a plan comes together.

I've crewed for hot air balloons for about 20 years, and proposed to my bride in the air with one of my favorite pilots. She had told me once that a balloon flight was on her "bucket list", and I mentioned that I might be able to make that happen. She never suspected the rest, was a perfect setup.

Wow, you do have a heart! And I thought you were a conservative! :dunno::D

Wow, you do have a heart! And I thought you were a conservative! :dunno::D

I thought conservatives were the only ones willing to spend there own money (thus having a good heart).

If your a liberal, you only have half a good heart, because while your willing to spend money (the good heart part), you first want to take it from someone else (the bad heart part).

Ok, done with politics :)

Great story!! Congrats to the couple as well!
