I'll throw in my own Yo! while I'm at it.
(I never even realized that Yo was something other than an all purpose word until I was in high school, and spent some time with New Yorkers. You just used it. Yo -- you eatin the rest of that pizza??? Yo, what's up? Yo - Phil!, Yo. Language without Yo? You'd have to invent a new word!)
