Xen Gel Stent

I have a friend (yes, actually a friend, not me!!) that flies helicopters for pay on a second class medical. His ophthalmologist is recommending Xen gel stents to relieve pressure in his eyes. His AME is in the hospital and unavailable. He'll of course seek his counsel when he's out of the hospital. In the mean time, will this procedure affect his ability to get a second class medical? Thanks
