driving from kona to hilo, hawaii tomorrow and google maps shows bradshaw army air base near the route so i zoomed in on sat view and see cross-like symbols on the runway - any ideas?

took a couple of photos of Upolu airport (via rental chrysler vs rental cessnsa) and will post upon return

Helipads.

Army aviation is primarily a helicopter affair. The dirt there causes brownouts very easily, so the most economical solution was to designate helipads on the runway.
