There's a show on the BBC about the women pilots in the ATA. The women's group within ATA was organized to use female pilots to transport planes during WW2. I guess it was the model for our WASP's. It's on the BBC but we can't get the whole show here in the states - at least I can't. I did find a 10 minute version on youtube. Here's a link. It looks like a great program.

Our WAACs were ground troops...no connection with flying. Our WASPs, who trained pilots and ferried aircraft, were not considered military personnel, got treated like dirt, and received recognition for their efforts only last year.
