I seem to be getting the allowable variances for VOR's mixed up between 4degrees + -, or 6 degrees, etc. If it's on the VOT, or flying, or acceptable deviation percentages.

Anyone have an easier way to think of this? hopefully you know what I'm talking about :\

When you’re airborne, stuff is more variable (bumpy). Accuracy suffers. Everything else is 4 degrees (using 2 CDIs is accurate).

It's only +/- 6 degrees for an airborne checkpoint, either a published one or made-up check using a landmark along an airway. (And a dual VOR check—one against the other—doesn't count as an airborne checkpoint.)

If you need to look out the window, it’s six. Otherwise it’s four.
