I notice every now and then there are flights that cross the (north) polar area, seemingly at a much (!!) higher rate of speed than the others... is this an effect of the map distortion, or...?

I saw flight patterns in most of the places I expected them, but was surprised by the number of flights running between Europe and South America. New Zealand also has a TON of traffic (tourists!).
