Wish I could do this...

30 pound gun... Id venture a full mag is another few pounds... thats a lot of weight to steady.

Yeah it is, but I am rather scrawny and can hold arms of that weight steady. I imagine with some practice you could as well.

Hitting a silhouette at 1000 yards with *anything* from an offhand position, without even so much as a sling, is quite a feat. Anyone who thinks otherwise probably hasn't done much actual shooting at ranges exceeding a couple hundred yards.

I'd venture to say what you saw in that video was a lot of skill, and a lot of luck. The chances he could have hit it with a follow-up shot are probably pretty slim -- even the shooter was surprised that he hit it.

Yep that is why after a shot like that you put the gun down and walk away.

I had one of those more skill than luck shots when i was about 20. Had a friend throw up a clay pigeon and i proceeded to shoot it out of the sky with a bolt action .22. Spent the rest of the day trying to duplicate it. Should have just walked away and said what now.

See "22plinkster"'s videos on YouTube if you like .22 trick shots. Fun stuff.

One of the best shots I ever made was with a .22LR. Home on leave I was plinking with my trusty old single shot. A ferral cat was about to attack our 20 year old cat in a field about 400 yards away. Aiming with the site would have been pointless at that range so I just guesstimated the angle and wind. Dropped it with the first shot. :happydance:
