I need a landline phone that will illuminate the caller ID display when a call comes in, hate turning on the room lighting at 2am all the time.

My wired Aastra phone has a lighted display (w/caller ID) that is on all the time.
Works well in my office which usually is dark other than the computer monitors.
As for the other phones in the house, we have caller ID show up on the TV.

Mine is the 9120 though it seems that most of their analog models have the same feautre.

Nothing good ever comes through the phone at 2am . . .
if someone is dead. . . they are not gonna care
if someone is in the hospital . . . visiting hours are at least 8 hours away
if someone is drunk . . . they got themselves that way - call a cab / Uber / etc.

Get a Panasonic DECT wireless phone set. Even reads you the Caller ID in voice.
