Nice airplane. The estimated value is 113,773.62, so figure 30-35k+ in sales taxes.

    I don't understand....what do you mean?

is it about the paint job?
which is a head scratcher... I'm no artists or fashion guru....what do I know about colors going together..... but to my eye, I just don't get why anyone would do that scheme!

If that's the original 1963 paint scheme, I gotta wonder what the designer was smoking. I bet negative urinaylsis tests for employment weren't as big a thing back then.

An hour later than they start in central time. :dunno: I don't believe these sell out immediately like they used to, so you can probably wait until morning.

“This year, the raffle will launch on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 12am Central Time. Only 5,000 tickets will be made available, 1 ticket for $100 and 3 tickets for $275.”

Ok, then maybe it’s reading comprehension we need to work on. :)

What is your point exactly? When tickets go on sale at 12:00 midnight CST, it will be 1:00 am midnight where I live, which is all I’ve been saying all along. :dunno:

The tickets go on sale at midnight CST / 1:00 AM EST because that's when the day begins where Wings of Hope is located. It has nothing to do with people from the East Coast.

I understand how that works. My only point was, if those of us in the EST zone want to buy tickets as soon as they go on sale, we have to make an effort to stay up late, while folks on the West coast can buy a few tickets and still watch the nightly news. I have been saying no less, no more, this entire time.

I’ve come up with a perfect solution. Alabama is only 60 miles away, so I’ll fly over there so I can buy them earlier. :D

They used to start the raffle at 6 am CT, which worked out much better for East Coast, bad for west coast. The new 12 am CT isn't so awful since tickets don't sell out like they used to since they raised the price. Besides the winners seem to always be someone with 10 aircraft already, 6 of which they built with a pair of tin snips and a rivet gun and the remainder fly at Mach 3.7.

Why not start at 12 NOON?

    Easy for everyone.

Or did the screw up the AM/PM and MEAN noon? Many people get that wrong.

Is the winner of this raffle subject to sales/use tax by the local or state tax authority?

Or can this be "coded" as an occasional sale?

If yes to paying tax, on what amount? If I purchase just one raffle ticket, I paid just $100.00. Or are they going off of some derived retail value?

For noncash prizes, winners must pay 25% of the fair market value minus the wager. That’s just for the IRS.

    https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-tege/notice_1340.pdf

ETA: if the charity pays the taxes, there’s a formula for the charity to determine the grossed up tax on the noncash prize AND the tax payment prize.
