I took a wood and fabric class where we used the poly fiber system. Recovering an entire wing looks like a lot of work. I look forward to seeing the finished product!

I love looking at Tom's work. I wish I had the time (or, perhaps, the attention span) to do work of that kind and quality.

Good luck Tom. Looks like you accomplished a lot in very little time. It too me 2 fraking hours just to change the oil on my now dead Goldwing motorcycle.

Thanks guys, I wish I could work on it every day, but real life gets in the way. After you get the bag made it doesn't take long to put it on, the clips are quick/easy to use.

That's lot of clips, but they are all in, and the tapes are on.

a couple more reinforcement patches and we are ready for the primer-filler

Tell me about the clips Tom, is that a Cessna thing? There are no rib stitches at all?

BTW - I'm in the middle of a similar but much smaller project building an isty bitsy replica of my Champ :D

No rib stitches on metal ribs. The edges would cut the cord. The clips are a Cessna thing. Well, I don't think they are EXCLUSIVELY Cessna.

They are made from spring steel wire, and fit the holes in the Cessna ribs on the 120/140 and the 170 rag wing. And yes they are a Cessna thing, I've never seen them used in any other manufacturer's aircraft.

It's rather difficult to find the holes if you don't know the divider trick because the reinforcement tape hides where the clips go.

They are much quicker to use and a whole lot faster than stitching.

these are the hold in each rib, not easy to spot when covered with a layer or two of ceconite and reinforcement tape.

Champs and Chiefs use PK screws. At some point, Citabrias and Decathlons switched to pop rivets.

Got the first coats of Ecofill applied today.

Brushed the first coat let set over night (last) and today rolled on two more coats, allowed to dry and turned the wing over and brushed on the first coat to the other side, will allow to dry tonight and will roll on two coats on tomorrow.

pictures in a bit.
