Final Approach
Finally got a chance to try this method of windshield crack repair. I have had a 2 inch crack on the top edge for about a year. It has been very slowly growing.
Method:
1. Cut a hole in the box.
2. Stop drill the crack with a 1/8 bit.
3. Glue short piece of 1/8 acrylic dowel in hole using Weld-On #3.
4. Trim ends of rod flush.
5. Sand with grits from 400 thru 2500, then compound and polish.
Pretty happy with the results. Repair is watertight, does not obstruct vision, and should stop crack from growing.
