I want to start personalizing my plane. First step? Window sticker.

Can I?

Something along the lines of the little white stickers found in the rear windows of cars, but I'm thinking of putting this one in one of the rear side windows (wouldn't obstruct any visibility).

Type airplanes? Picture of sticker?

I've seen AOPA and EAA stickers on windows. I doubt they would change the W&B nearly enough to be an issue.

Maybe it's my fighter experience at work, but I don't like the idea of anything which blocks my view of the outside world where other planes might be. If I'm going to add a sticker, it will be somewhere already opaque.

Probably best to paint a logo on the plane, maybe on the tail. Maybe a big Bugs Bunny? Or a decal of Bob Marley smoking a joint?

How about something in the line of - - - though it's no longer there, but will reappear with slight modifications. :o)

"If you can read this in flight.... YOUR TOO CLOSE!!"

Since I do PnP flights, I've wanted to add "missions completed" paw marks on the aircraft, like the bombers did during WWII

I post the eaa OSH strikers on the aircraft frame, considering painting a map of the states on the fuselage . Each to their own.

Seriously?

If it isn't blocking your view go for it.

Go to any airfield and tske a look at all the EAA, OSK, AOPA, etc stickers.

Heck customer forces you to put their sticker on.

If you look I have a sticker on my windshield.

I like that! I put small stickers either on the pax door or the rudder. I could happily put paw decals for each flight (or dog?) on the door.

Of course that will drive the next owner crazy, but who cares?

Where can I find paw decals?

Sure, I used to have some on my Tavelair including some dancing bears.

Many years before my 2000 ownership of the plane, somebody put a 5 x 5 sticker at the front inside of each rear seat window. Each has been an occlusion to photography composition. I SLOWLY was able to remove the stickers; however the thick adhesive remains. Next step is to see if GOO-GONE product will remove the adhesive remains.

IF SO, I will soon have two rear seat windows(for early 1970s C-172) for sale because LP AERO is shipping me two windows(#348 CLEAR Left and #349 CLEAR Right) to be installed. Tinted was standard fare in 1970 but it's a PITA for photography missions.

If you look at the windshield on this airplane you will see black molding around the bottom. That molding was purchased from the aviation section of Lowes. This is used to wrap water pipes and such.

When I remove this windshield I have to remove this molding for this holds the windshield in place. I clean the glue off this windshield with adhesive remover in a spray can. It has never dulled or done anything bad to this windshield and I have used this or removed this molding maybe 12 times in the last 5 years.

Tony

P.S. That round sticker on my windshield hides a crack and drill stop hole. I think the sticker looks better then a crack and drilled hole. Just me. You can see this crack in this other pic.

I get my stickers like No Push for my stabilator and No Smoking from DECALIBRATIONS. Find them on Facebook.

Just put some airbags and rims on it.

On the Flight Design CTLSi one can order the plane with airbag seatbelts. They inflate on impact, they don't explode out of the panel.

The rims are prolly out there too, havn't check for that...

A Mooney at my local airport has small stickers on the side windows.

The front windows say: "First Class"

The back windows? "Coach"

The tail number on my plane is N6669A.... a lot of room for creative decals with that one. Interesting topic, I'm looking at options myself

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if it was legal and then I wasn't sure if it was wise. :)

I was actually considering the above when I started figuring out what I wanted and where to put it. There are a few locations where, from the pilot's seat, I either can't see out that window, or I see wing out that window. In other words "already opaque". Those (to me) are the only candidate locations.

I admit this is like putting stickers on your laptop, but it's my airplane, I've had it for 18 months, and I'm still treating it like it was a rental (in the good way). Time to make my mark, however small. :)

(It's getting painted in a year or two. THAT's when I get to really express my individuality.)

Put a CBP registration sticker on the side window. Place IAW CBP guidelines.
That's the only sticker needed.
