Anyone know how to turn OFF the asinine user interface effect each time I select something with the mouse? On Solitaire, it's the "glow" whenever I move the mouse over a card. Just about everywhere else, it's the "circular ripple effect when throw a stone in water" each time I click on the mouse.

I've search the control panel with no success. It's annoying, it violates the de facto guidelines for user interface design, and, well, we don't go any further....

I bought a netbook with Win7 Starter Edition on it. In general I have found
it to be a pain in the ass. Mostly it's the annoying security stuff.
I'm the ONLY person who will ever LOOK at that computer, yet there are
a lot of directories or features I can't access because it doesn't think
I'm the "Administrator".
There are times I'm tempted to format the drive and put XP on it.

A lot of that is so that malicious code cannot easily access the resources that would permit it to raise hell on your machine.
