Okay, I can't find a way to make this aviation-related other than us "rich" crazy pilots might be able to buy this crap if we weren't buying 100LL...

But... this "guide" is basically the self-conversation going on in my head whenever this junk mail shows up and I actually look at it without pitching it directly in the trash can...

I was tearing up laughing at this.

Enjoy. Happy holidays. I ain't feelin' it yet. My inbox is stuffed with "Black Friday" ads. Apparently every vendor on the planet is selling HDTVs for the same price I paid two months ago to put one downstairs for workout videos. Hahaha.

Personal favorite:

Williams-Sonoma says: "Baked by trappist monks at a monastery in the Missouri Ozarks. Order early. Supply is limited."
Price:$39.95
Notes from Drew: Everything about that sales copy just blew my skull. There are trappist monks in the Ozarks? Do they brew artisanal meth?

That ain't no panini spatula, that's a real nice banjo tuning fork.

Cheers

We had eight people for dinner the night before the Air and Scare event at the museum. For about $10, I got several small pie pumpkins to use as bowls for both the appetizer and the desert.

I would actually like to have the cute pumpkins bowls and tureen. Crap, I grow about 500lbs of squash every year, them things would get used almost daily.

Heh. There's always one in every crowd! :)

Catalog photographers are magicians insofar as making stuff look better than it is. I stopped at Sporty's store one day and the crap they brought out of the back room in those plastic sacks didn't look anything like the pitchers I seen in there catalog.

I can't believe people actually buy this crap.

Article made me lol by the way.

If you grow that much squash are you skilled at sneaking out in the dead of night and leaving excess squash on your neighbor's front steps? :wink2:

Nope. for the ones that don't get stuffed (ground turkey/spice) and baked, the others get baked, the meat get scraped out and made into soups, deserts, etc. All the seeds get baked. Some sweet, some spicy. Shells get dumped into the garden and are gone when the snow melts.

Although this year, I am going to give my karate instructors a box full.

I used to work for a guy that did food photography for menus and advertising. The amount of food they prepared to get one perfect shot...it would practically feed a third world county. Ahh...but the free Baskin Robins ice cream cakes we'd get....hahaha

And it's soooooo dissapointing when you see the real thing.

Actually, the panini spatula looks like a great idea. And the chocolates...

I just looked at this again, and it made me laugh so hard! The Hungarian Grain Sack Stocking really made me laugh, because that stuff is dirt cheap in Europe, but who wants a grain sack for a stocking. Willliams-Sonoma used to have (maybe still does) Polish dishes that were expensive in the catalog, but I've seen them in Germany dirt cheap, which was probably a mark-up from the original Polish price of really dirt cheap.

Yet another WS catalog was unloaded by the mailman at my place today.

aka "Food Porn".

OMG this guy is hilarious.

Starts off with:

"Anyway, I paid for this grater with a credit card. And when a place like Williams-Sonoma gets your credit card and thus your address, you are on the mailing list for life. Every holiday season, my mail slot gets bukkake'd with monstrous catalogs packed with **** I would never, ever buy, and the W-S catalog stands out among them."
