Will the flight exist?

Any experience with American Airlines lately?

I am using nearly 100,000 of my FF miles for a vacation in January, and I am hoping my flight will exist!

It's better now than three months ago... I fly on them almost exclusively, being based out of DFW.

Be realllllly quiet out there if AA were to cease operations.

Im sure they will be flying. Is it AA miles or through your credit card? Why not continental milesI always liked their miles program i've gotten great deals.

If you can get Dallas Morning News online, read today's article. They are almost out of the woods, but nobody seems to know whether it will be as a stand-alone or merged with USAir.

I certainly hope so! I've got four AA flights coming up this week! I'm also kind of stuck with them because of location (DFW).

;)

I'm not worried.

If you have a gazillion miles with them and you want a trip a few months out using miles - I'd try to get a trip on a partner - first off - the service is probably better - and second, more reliable. . .

i will note that when I went to London in October both American and BA were having sales on business class fares - nonstop on BA from LAX-LHR in a 777 one way and 747 the other was only $1475 RT - coach was $800. . . so it was tremendous bargain. Honestly, Club World on BA is 1000x better than any business class product on AA anywhere at any time. I've had a better meal and better service on JAL in economy from NRT-PEK than when I flew AA from JFK-NRT . . . .

The thing about BA Club World are the lounges in both places - there are few things more humanizing than getting off a 9 hour flight to London and being able to get into a steaming hot shower, and getting your suit and shirt pressed and shined - you feel like a million $$$ after that. You have FA's who care mostly about their jobs, and not a mechanized 'I have to do this service at this moment' mentality that AA FA's have . , .

Going to SIN for a production meeting with a client to hammer out a deal and we're flying one of the all business class trips from LAX. That might actually leave me conscious when I get off the plane . .

Really? Love Field is that much further?

If AA disappeared from DFW, it's a good bet that there would be others ready to snatch up all those gates.

Personally, I do occasional business in the I-35 corridor, and I avoid DFW because something always goes wrong when I'm there. Broken plane, broken rental car, weather (last time, it was snow), someone gets sick, whatever. Things that really seem unrelated, but never seem to happen at AUS.

DFW without AA would be a strange, strange place.

Stirring the pot...

OK, so I'll start by agreeing that BA anything is 1000x better than AA anything...

I've flown LAX<->LHR at least 50x if not 100x one way or round trip I dunno. Eventually one stops counting...

Air New Zealand is awesome. Sometimes they are cheaper than BA. Virgin is never, ever, cheaper than BA or ANZ. The domestic carriers try to trick you into booking their EWR/JFK flights, but those are garbage. I'd rather make the trip in an SWA lavatory than in a United "business class" seat.

A few million miles and counting...

Mike
