Woman Files Lawsuit Over Cell Phone 911 Call

MASON CITY, Iowa -- A Clear Lake Woman has filed a lawsuit against a cell phone service provider, claiming her husband's death was the result of a misdirected 911 call.

Anyone actually read the fine print of their cell contract? Does it address 911 routings and any release of liability?

Cell phone 911 calls are supposed to be routed to the dispatch center for the area in which the call is made based on the location of the cell tower that handle the call. While a call may go to a wrong dispatch center--city vs. county, etc.--because the tower is near a jurisdictional boundary, Cerro Gordo County is approximately 100 miles from Cedar Rapids. US Cellular obviously screwed up.
