Why shouldn't I buy this plane?

I've been watching that plane for a while. I don't have a problem with the paint. We can go halfsie if we keep it on the west side of town.

I don't know spit about Cessnas but I've been reliably informed from those that know them the 1960 is one of the best older models, before the Omni-vision windows, and with the swept tail, and better flight pulleys, and some other minor mods, that still has the 40deg manual flaps.

I can't think of one reason not to buy it either. Buy it and lease it back to the Mustang Ranch for Mile High flights!!

One condition. Can we add a horn and make it a unicorn?

I would never use the flaps. If I go too slow someone might recognize me in it.

no matter what else ya do, the LORAN will sure be handy...

Neigh, I canter think of a reason, either. If you're not horsing around, since I'm FL-based, I don't mind hoofing it to that location and checking it out for you. As long as it's not behind a locked gait, I'll take some good photos for you (just bale me out if I get busted for trespassing). It's a nice bird, so if you're hot to trot for it you'll have to jockey for rights to purchase first. But manely, if the photos check out and as long as the engine is stable and you can pony up a bit of cash, no reason not to do the deal, saddle up, and ride it out of there.

Well done!

Given that particular photo, what I am about to point out of all things is going to seem odd maybe...

What a strange looking front wheel pant.

That's a speed mod. It helps get the weird paint scheme out of your field of view sooner.

That paint job makes it like a moped.

Fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you doing it.

And who melted the wing tips?

Horton STOL tips. Can't tell if it has the stall fences, leading edge cuff mod, or the flap/gap seals.

One of the reasons I was interested in it.

Mine has had flap gap seals since we bought it and I'm seriously thinking about taking them off after reading reams of debate about them on semi-fowler flaps. :dunno:

Ok, share. What's the hot dope on flap seals?

If you're gonna go, go big.

Where's the slow clap icon when you need it?!?

Why shouldn't I buy this plane? I can't think of one single reason not to buy this.

Simple, because it's not a straight tail and if it's not a straight tail then it has no class and ain't worth owning!

:goofy:

The King 8001 was a boat anchor even before they turned off Loran.

The GPS III isn't a Loran, but a non-aviation Garmin handheld GPS ostensibly for hiking/outdoors use. Database doesn't meet either aviation or even highway standards.

But can't you put all that aside knowing that you would be

All it's missing is a "I'm ready for Hillary" sticker.

I wouldn't be caught flying it. If I was, I'd say stole it last Tuesday.

If we have to tell you the problem with that airplane, you'll just never understand it no matter how we explain it. :D

That said, you could have a lot of fun with that airplane. With the right outfit you could be the next TronGuy.

Also, a rattle-can camo job would fix that right up. The price is right on the plane, after all.

Just strut right across the ramp on up to the FBO.
"Pardon me, but would you happen to have a crew car available?"
