Which way does a new Piper door seal sit?

I bought new door seals for my Piper Archer. They are the bulb type (looks like a "P"). I'm trying to figure out which way they get installed on the door. Does anyone who has installed these on a Piper know?

Is it the first picture (with tail to edge of door) or the second (with tail into the cockpit)?

I bought it from Browns Aircraft. There were no instructions.

Looking at this picture from the other thread I'd guess option #2

Installed it like figure 2. Door wouldn't close. The seal doesn't compress much at all. I removed it and am looking for a different, softer seal.
