I am thinking of getting the new Garmin 695 for my RV-9A (if I ever finish it). I'm can't decide whether to get the new Lap Mount or the new panel mount coming from http://airgizmos.com/. Whatchutink?

Lap mount? Methinks that would get in the way. I vote panel mount, if you have the space!

Do you have the capacity to have a drop down, hinged panel that
can swing up when not in use?

I got the double suction cup mount from Michael whatshisname, put it on left side of windshield, up high where I can see it. So far so good.

I have a 696 and have found that it was easily usable in a customer's DA40XLS by just resting it on my RH thigh. I think you will find the Lap Mount more than adequate. I own a Bonanza, and mounted mine to the yoke arm which works just fine in that position. In fact, the 696 has a very large acceptable viewing angle, I would estimate close to +/- 80 degrees side to side and at least 30 degrees top to bottom, so I think you will find almost any viewing angle acceptable.

I use my tablet (a little bigger LS800) just on my lap. It is far easier to use than in a panel. I do not follow the little red line so I do not have to look at it constant though.
