I've always wondered, do they use Loctite blue or red?

gotta be the blue stuff...

this isn't the red board.

On a serious note, I was shocked to see the JANE thread locked. I saw nothing lockworthy about it. Maybe something went over my head?

Other than it was a deliberate attempt to provoke a response by invoking emotionally charged descriptive terms, I'd agree with you.

Well there appear to be 4 people on this board named Jane.
Which one has he out as being the slut?

joke

noun

1. something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or a prankish act:

He tells very funny jokes. She played a joke on him.

Is Red stronger?
I have only used blue.

Yeah, red is the original loctite. Basically designed not to be able to be broken loose. The blue loctite is the medium grade that's able to be removed without damaging threads/bolts. They have a purple and green low-strength version.

Blue is removable with hand tools. Red requires heat and most likely air tools to remove.

I think these are the consumer grades, they make many more.

That's bizarre. A thread that doesn't really have a destination actually turns into something educational, useful. Totally backwards from our usual modus o!

The green is easier to remove from the computer when unlocking the thread.

what happens if you put loctite on an egg

You're going to have one ****ed off constipated chicken. Well I guess if you put the loctite on while it's still in the chicken. But why else would you put loctite on an egg?

Never used Loctite. I'm trying to think of a time it might come in handy.

I used it on the intake manifold bolts when rebuilding my Ford 351w. They can have a tendency to vibrate loose a bit and leak oil from the galley. It's not much different than using a lock washer on something. We use it in manufacturing in some instances when torque specs and safety wiring aren't needed.

Some of the motorcycles I've owned have had nylock nuts or bolts in oft used locations such as brake caliper mounting bolts. You're supposed to buy new bolts as once the nylon is cut once, it will no longer be vibration resistant. I re-use with a dab of Loctite blue, Bob's your uncle.

Wrong. I was PM'ed and called a profane name because of a harmless joking post I wrote. I was offering a public "counterpoint" to the ignorant, overly sensitive PM I received, hence, "Jane, you ignorant slut".

There's no place for thin skin on the internet.

Think pots and kettles.

It was a lot better before Carbon Tetrachloride went away and their Primer T product disappeared, however I found that CRC Electamotive or Brake Clean in the RED can (not Green, it's a non chlorinated solvent, you need a chlorinated one, so it has to smell like the stuff in the red can, the other stuff smells like Berryman's B-12 and shows signs of a weaker bond under the torque wrench tests I did) or similar chlorinated solvent product.
