When the CFI steps in

I remember an early conversation with my CFI during final that went something like this:

CFI: "You see those trees down there?"

Me: "Yeah."

CFI: "You notice how it looks like you're going to crash into them if you don't give it more throttle?"

Me: "Yeah, it does."

CFI: "Well, that's because you're going to crash into them if you don't give it more throttle."

Me: "Oh..."

[I give her more throttle]

Me: "Thanks."

CFI: "Always glad to help."

With all that float, he wasn't that close to stall.

And he seemed to have plenty of runway ahead. No need to land that short either.

Of course a slip would have worked.
