What's your password?

I used to use the words in the upper right hand corner of the log in screen.

My bank password was "findalocation"
My PoA passwrod was "livechat"
My AOPA password was "submit"
etc.

Then I'd move to a different corner...

That's a really neat idea. Reminds me of the lady who no longer works here. She would look around the room and come up with something. If she saw a poster of a world map, she would pick a place on the map. If you were wearing plaid pants, she would pick that. You get the idea.

Do you think that the call center employee making minimum wage is a safer bet than encrypted and anonymous electronic processing? All of the bogus charges I have had, and I have had a few, came from using my credit card at restaurants with a "human" involved.

Welcome to my world. The log files are being collected for another brainiac's day in court, as I type this... Beyond that, I can say no more.

Lets just say that folks in the industry take that stuff very seriously. And they'll happily spend lots of money to make examples out of someone willing to do it.

I got to spend an hour or so with our PCI auditor today for the quarterly anal probe today, too. :)

It's impressive what they think they'll get away with. Too bad for them, it's all recorded ten ways from sideways. Too bad for me, how the stuff gets safely stored is audited quarterly by third-party vendors and clients auditors both. Lot of paperwork.

But yes, Mr. Auditor, I can tell you every single software file loaded on every single machine and what date it was installed.

I gotz tooolz fer dat. Would you like it in Excel or PDF? :)

My life is simpler then that.....

I use my card to pay NetZero monthly. And other then orders to Aircraft Spruce it does not get used.... I pay with cash or checks for all other stuff.

Well, you are fortunate that it works for you. Around my parts, most airport fuel is self serve, credit card only. The credit card company does limit the liability, though and walking around with a lot of cash carries risk, as well.

Risk ? In Wyoming ?... Around these parts, a robber ends up passing away from lead poisening...:rolleyes:

At one time in my life I was using appropriate song lyrics & titles:

For Bank & Investment Accounts my password was "MoneyGetBack" or "MoneyForNothing" or "TakeTheMoneyAndRun"

For ebay, amazon and similar sites it was "YouCantAlwaysGetWhatYouWant" (if it fit, if not then) "CantBuyMeLove"

For Aviation Sites it was "TreeTopFlyer"

and, I guess it goes without saying that for the Playboy Channel and all the multitudes of porn sites that I subscribed to it was "MrMoJoRisin"

:)

I just use 0h*****. Because that's what I say everytime I get it wrong. Wow, even with the numbers and symbols, it still filtered it out.

Biggest peeve is the ****ant no risk sites that require complex passwords.:mad2:

I tend to use fairly long passwords - something on the order of 8-12 characters mixed case with symbols and numbers.

Unfortunately - these days I have about 200 places I have to put a password in and they're all different. Half the time when I go back someplace that I don't visit commonly, I have no clue what the password is and have to reset it again. But I can't use a password that I've ever used before and I have to make up a new one.

How do I remember them all? I don't, I just write them down on a pad of paper next to my computer...

I appreciate banking and investment sites that offer me a two factor authentication mechanism (software or hardware token)... Combined with a good password, it's next to uncrackable.
