While practicing some maneuvers in the practice area a few days ago, I noticed the CHT for #2 fluctuating from normal to very low temps while EGT's remained normal. The pictures were taken about 10 minutes apart. Field elevation is 4500. Prior to takeoff, I lean till engine gets rough and then enrich a few turns. I was flying at 7500 ft. Plane is a 182J with a stock O-470-R which is fairly new to me as well as this type of engine monitor. My initial thoughts are bad cht probe or fouled plug? Thoughts? Thank you

I owned a GEM for a number of years. If you had a fouled plug the EGT would go up on that cylinder. The reason being is that with only one plug firing, the exhaust burns further down the exhaust tube.

I would check to make sure the CHT probe for the #2 cylinder is tight in that cylinder. If it is, I would suspect the probe is going bad before I did anything with the cylinder.
