What's this coming out of my oil pan?

So I went out to the hangar yesterday and pulled the cowl off the Lance to get it ready for some maintenance later on this week. I have these two wires protruding from my oil pan on the bottom of the engine. Now, I had seen these before, but had never given much thought to them. Could these be remnants of a oil preheating system?

So yeah, I dipped way back into the Engine Logbook and found that in April of 1985 a "Tannis Heating System" had been installed. Having trouble finding much more information than that. Will have to go through the rest of my records for the aircraft.

It is a Tannis heating element, but where is the rest of the system?

That's a good question. The other thing I can't find is any notation in the logbooks that it had been removed, only that at one time one was installed. This is all that remains I guess.

Should replace it with a new plug. Not of much use. The element has probably long deteriorated.
