If you had to choose, which show would you go see?

Wicked or Spamalot?

Never heard of either, so I would say stay at home and see what's on HBO.

2nd vote for HBO ... oh wait, I don't get HBO. Make that VS or Outdoor Channel.

The View, but only when Janine Garofalo is a guest.

Wicked is GREAT! The music is really cool and so is the story. I have on of the songs as my ring tone. I loved it and it is really funny!!!

Spamalot would be great too but Wicked was a whole new concept whereas Spamalot is a rehash of Monty Python. I am not saying that it is bad just I would go for the new and fit in the old later.

I've read the book Wicked so it's not a new story for me, but it was quite an intresting one. I was also a big Monty Python Fan and could recite the grail in HS... so neither is new material. But when the guy listed what showes we could seen in NYC, those two stood out as ones I'd like to see.

So unless I get some great recomendations one way or the other... I'll just let the penny pincher in me win and go for the one with the lower tix price. ; )

I got an early warning from the Python list to buy tickets for Spamalot when it tried out in Chicago before going to Broadway. I didn't get a round tuit. Regrets...

I DID get to "The Producers" when I saw a mention that tickets were available. Got into the 4th row. Turned the corner on Nathan Lane, I did. He may be a ham, but he has the tools to be one.

Well... considering the choices I'd have to say "always look on the bright side of life, da dum da dum da da da-dum"

It's a no-brainer, if I'm lucky, someone after reading this post, will now have that song going through their head for a while!

I've heard "Wicked" is absolutely fabulous. As much as I love Monty Python stuff, I've seen most of it and can quote Grail. I would go for the fresh and new. Whichever one you choose I hope you have a wonderful time.

IF you're a python fan, then definitely go for Spamalot. I've seen it twice now, once in DC and once on Broadway, and it's fabulous.

I've seen 'em both in NYC and they are both fabulous, but different.

Spamalot is great for those who enjoy a more slapsticky humor. If you have seen the Grail movie once it is worth it. If you have seen the Grail movie a hundred times and can recite the lines, it is even better. GO.

On the other hand, if Mssr. Python doesn't do it for you, see Wicked. It is a wonderful show, there is not a bad seat in the theater, and the lighting is among the best I have seen (but I am an old stage hand so I notice things like that). The plot is imaginative, and the music is great. GO.

See 'em both. I did!

Personally, I would have said Wicked because I like the music and I figured that the special effects would be cool, but I ran the question by my Daughter who's planning to major in musical theater in college next year. She has seen Wicked on Broadway and has the Spamalot CD. She recommends Spamalot because its funny and the music is just as good as Wicked.

I doubt you'd be unhappy with either choice.
