What to expect for an Oakland transition from KPAO

I'm familiar with the Oakland Charlie transition northwest from KSQL: mid span to the 29 numbers, coliseum then towards the Mormon temple.

Does anyone know what to expect out of KPAO?

Also how do I properly explain to flight following that I plan to fly up near Infineon Raceway and then return without landing anywhere?

Right 45 departure to mid-span san mateo bridge (or sunken ship), then 29 numbers. I usually explicitly ask ground for a class C transition.

Ask for flight following just like you said. Infineon and back with no landing request flight following. You could call it a bay tour, but that's further than usual.

Local instructors say this gets refused a lot, but the only time that happened to me was 30 minutes after the Asiana crash. KOAK must have been a total zoo.

Thank you! Looking like a nice day today so let's hope they give it to me. Worst case we go east avoiding it.

Thanks--overall was fine, although KPAO Ground seemed a bit confused. It was an incredible day--America's Cup over the bay, then drag racing happening at Infineon. Seeing those cars accelerate was quite a trip. We then circled over Viansa Winery where my finance and I are getting married next year. Quite a fun day, and I appreciate the help. :D
