My fuel caps on my RV6 are becoming harder to remove and snap into place... Some suggested to put a little bit of grease like EZ-Turn on them to help.

But a couple guys told me that the EZ turn product is very stiff in cold temperatures... so, really not what I want flying here in Quebec!

What are you guys using?

I just think good old vasoline would work just fine, don't you?

never ever use EZ turn on any surface that it could enter the fuel system. It is meant as a sealer for threaded fittings, I'd simply use the engine oil from the dip stick. yes it will wash off, but when it does it won't clog the fuel system strainers.

Perhaps replacing the gaskets on the fuel caps?

There's only one right answer:

The Mooney maintenance manual sez petroleum jelly or TriFlow.

I use the jelly.

For today, I played it safe and used a little bit of engine oil - but I also thought vaseline would work just fine... Glad to see some of you guys use it too.

And it solve the problem by the way.

I've used a really thin smear of DC-4 silicone grease. Just a hint of it will do. I've also found it beneficial to smear it between the cap and gasket, not the gasket's tank-mating surface, as those exposed surfaces will attract dust. The cap will turn nicely against the gasket instead and keep the grease somewhat protected.
