This is getting a lot of play on the radio lately...

I thought it was odd until I noticed on my radio display that it was by Ed Sheeran. But it's not a new song. It was a very popular song, at least in Europe anyway, in the mid 80's in the Italo Disco genre. But Google is failing me. I'm sure the 80's version had a different title and maybe different lyrics, but it is for certain the same song otherwise.

Anyone know?

Sounds a bit like Please Leave Me Alone by Michael Jackson from the 80s. Also sounds really close to Lost in Yesterday from Tame Impala (much more recent). Ed Sheeran is going to find himself ion the courtroom again for copyright infringement lol. The rhythm/notes are very generic to dance/pop, so I'm sure it'll be hard to prove though.

Maybe there’s still hope for me to get discovered as a world class bongo player

Why is it getting a lot of play on the radio? (I guess it's popular)

Or why am I asking? (I'm curious. I like Italo Disco music.)
Sorry, the former :p

I do like some new music, and aren't fully in the 'old man yells at clouds' phase yet, but certainly lack understanding of the popularity of the most-played stuff. Thinking back though this is not a new phenomenon for me.

The song I am thinking about sounds exactly like the Ed Sheeran version, so much so that I thought I was listening to it at first. The lyrics could be different, I never focused on them in the original version.

Italo Disco genre.

IDK, but it sounded so generic to me I would assume hundreds of songs could be mistaken for this.

now... how do you 'unhear' something? I need a brain rinse.

The Google and music sites that match music have failed to come up with anything that sounds remotely close.

Sheeran claims it's an original. So it's just original generic whiny bullcrap.

I got tame Impala and Portugal the man- Live in the moment vibes
