What is this part on a Cessna 210?

In the hangar at my school there is a 1970 Cessna 210 taken apart. I’ve been looking at it, trying to identify parts, but could not figure out what this black cylindrical item is (red arrow pointing to it on the pic).

It's the electric starter motor attached to the engine starter drive adapter.
